Like seriously, no one made a topic for this one yet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=cU56Kh731Q0 In short what is Starbound: It is game about building, exploiting universe and fighting in sandbox where almost everything is procedurally generated (planets, biomes, climate, gravity, enemies or even items). Think of buffed terraria set in space. Preorders were opened 2 days ago, and it already has made over 550k $. http://www.playstarbound.com/store/ Also roadmap is really worth checking as it shows in detail how advanced development is on specific parts of the game: http://www.playstarbound.com/roadmap/
Got the Gold Tier. After looking at the roadmap and listening to the OST I have really good feeling about this game. Can't wait!
I got it just today (oh paypal you are so slow with accepting bank transfers) and I must say that soundtrack is really great. Now lets hope that game will turn out to be even better than terraria.
We're up and stable currently on DasServer. Contact myself, or one of the dozen or so playing to get the connection info.
According to the devs, there will be at least one more character/save wipe, although they said they don't have any big patches in the works for a while.
Newest update online. No wipe from the devs. But... We'll be wiping and re-starting the current universe to enable a better balance of ore and other stuff. So.. Get your stuff off planet and onto your ship/single-player planet. Wipe due on 12/12, appx 06:00 PST.
Pushing it back a bit. Seems that there was a server restart/crash on the DasServer hardware so folks weren't able to access their stuff. I'll restart this afternoon when I hear that more people have cleared their stuff out.
Found this on their front page this morning: Monster Generation: Right now, monster parts just have stat boosts, but eventually rolled monster parts will affect their behavior and abilities. For example, monsters with spider legs can climb walls; fiery monsters inflict burning. You might get a burning spider dropping on you from the ceiling. Projectiles may be tied to specifically generated heads. Biome may influence monster part generation. Guys, we HAVE to get Flessar in here.
I like that. It's gonna make random mobs feel more dynamic instead of having something like a creeper that only does one thing. It does it well, but you always know what's gonna happen when you see it.
