One other thing, once you've picked your country and are in-game, go to Provinces and proceed to select each one and build a Recruitment Office. Without those you do not bring in fresh infantry units. That should be priority #1.
How does this game work? And how much time do I need to invest? I can log in and spend a bit of time everyday. Initial impression is that this is a far more in depth game of RISK. I don't suppose this works on turns? Or is adherent to the passing of time and resources simply need a while to build up for you to have enough to take an action that has an effect on the game (e.g. I have finally trained up enough soldiers! I think I'll invade small german territory!) Several Kabam-ish facebook games come to mind.
Game behaves somewhat like RISK. You use armies to defend/take over territories. The game is not turn based but time based. For example, moving an army from Uskub to Salonika will take approx. 3hrs. It can take longer/shorter depending on the length of travel and if you are in enemy or friendly territory. Resources grow/shrink on an minute basis and requires keeping an eye on in case you gain/lose territories that boost specific resources. You do have control over how resources are allotted and can cause more/less to be produced by shifting sliders.
So I joined up, built recruitment offices in all provinces, then recruited troops in all provinces... built some work shops... How do I know when I have the needed troops for invasion? What are the numbers by the troops names and what do they indicate? I presume that it's attack/defense, but is lower or higher better?
For provinces without forts, I recommend a 2:1 attack ratio. For each level of forts, increase by 1, i.e. 3:1/4:1/5:1. Also, you should be considering building forts in provinces that border possible enemy lines and in your capital. Once you have your first fort up, you should see harbors unlock which then lead to factories. Harbors speed up embark/debark times as well as double resource production in those provinces. They also allow the building of naval ships as long as you have a factory built. Factories allow you to build tanks and railguns and also build railroads.
Ugh all the good countries are gone! Only Germany or France left? Also, i''m assuming picking one of hte 'small' countries is not good for a beginner?
In terms of seeing enemy movement, can you tell where an enemy is going? Or can you just see where they are? And I'm assuming you can only see things in the light colored areas? Whats the difference between the two shades of vision range?
You can see anything that you have armies around. Armies have a circular FoV so anything in that FoV you can see. If an enemy army is in the FoV you can see how many they are sending. The brighter color is the known range, the darker shade is the seen range. If you are in the seen range, you know that something is there. If it is in the known range you can see just what is there.
Huh, attacked a 10 defended city with no fortress with a little over 20 and got my ass kicked, awesome.
Yea... these waffle makers are fucking mean. OH, they're sending a small group over your border btw. Probably move to defend that.
