Badass? You suggested the Carebear stare as a thing of intimidation! And it's all good when the OP guy is a friendly.
resurrecting the thread and attempting to bring it back on track for our multi monitor people... I'm looking at going to triple monitors as part of my new gaming build. What sizes are people running? had a friend stepping down from a single 32in in his simpit for triple 23's, looking around bestbuy trying to get an idea of sizes the 27's look awesome and Turbo Corvair's pit on mwo http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/6495-my-newly-constructed-battlemech-cockpit/ makes me think it wouldn't be too crazy since he runs 28's. Basically do I go 23/24/27/28? whats good whats just too big for it?
I'd say a lot depends on your budget... I went with one 27" display, but I could have definitely gotten two 24" monitors for the same price. Is your graphics card going to be a factor, because running the higher resolutions on a large monitor can definitely take a bite out of your performance! It also depends how far away from the monitors you'll be sitting, if you have a smaller space you might not need larger monitors. If you're going for immersion I'd say the biggest you can reasonably use the better, if the idea is to surround yourself. If you'd rather not have to check your peripherals you could certainly use smaller monitors, but then what's the point of having so many?
Dihm I wanted that exact monitor, but Fry's was out, so I had to go with the newer model that has the same specs, but it only 23" When it comes to multiple screens, is two good enough? or would the split in the middle be too awkward? I'd like to invest in in, but buying two more monitors to have a 3-screen set up is to much of an investment for me. Plus, I wouldn't mind having one vertical for excel sheets and displaying financial/stock information or a long article. Anyone with experience playing with only two screens?
I've not really seen any support for dual screens in games, I might be just playing the wrong games. Three screens seems to be the norm in a landscape arrangement with some running 5 in portrait or 6 stacked 3 on 3 for the real ballers. It will depend on the graphics card as to what formats are supported. I really do like a vertical one for work as well, I decided against 5 portrait and went with 3 in landscape with larger screens to get rid of the extra lines but I'm kinda wondering about that now as I'd like more of a vertical view even looking at web pages. http://www.wsgf.org/ This site has been a good resource for me as I work on my setup. They have some good comparisons between AMD Eyefinity and Nvidia Surround and what ever that third one is that you never hear about.
So. Time for some honesty. 3 monitors sorta sucks for gaming, because there are very very few games that are actually built properly to support it. Your side monitors end up being horribly skewed/stretched due to how games handle POV (even the ones that get gold medals on WSG). Plus, now you video cards have to chug a shitload more pixels so you really need to decrease your settings a bit. HOWEVER, and maybe it's just me, I end up using all my real-estate with TS, Steam, blah blah blah webpage this other application that here and there and just play games on my middle monitor. I would NEVER try to play a game using only two monitors. The bezels being right in the center of your screen would make it impossible. If you're going 2 monitors, you're doing it so that you have an auxiliary data display. Fingers crossed MWO will support wide-screen gaming well.
