I think I read there is a plane somewhere in the German line (either ME410 or Ju87 Stuka) which has a 57mm anti-tank gun. Apparently you can use it to down a B17 in one to two shots.
I know they handle like flying Winnebagos but I can't help but enjoy heavy fighters and light bombers.
Can't wait to get to Tier 4-5 on US, as it seems thats where the good stuff starts, but even at Tier 3, the Catalina and the Tier 2 Buffalo are pretty solid planes. Buffalo has 4 MGs and takes down planes fairly quickly, its a pretty good zoom/boom plane, have to stay high, find your targets swoop down on their rear and then climb back up, its also very effective ground strafing plane. The Catalina is a boat, has no guns except 3 turrets but 16 bombs and/or torpedoes. Its pretty good for bombing, but its pretty easily shot down. Basically I just stay at cloud level and drop bombs.
Just installed and tried it for the first time. I really like this game, ingame name is same as in here.
I've been playing some with the German t4 medium bomber and it feels so... unrewarding. I might very well be doing something wrong (a high probability of that) but taking out ground targets doesn't seem to give much of a score/xp reward.
It definitely doesn't compared to taking down enemy aircraft. But it is usually the quickest way to get a win. What's really fun is when you get grouped up and run 2-3 bombers and coordinate your targets, if done correctly you can end a ground attack match in about 4 minutes.
I've been reading up on the forums, apparently joysticks used to be viable, but over the last 6 months every patch has made them more and more useless with random wobble and other issues. Sounds strange, but I guess they've been focusing on making the mouse an easy mode flying method. I'd love to bust out my joystick, it feels more visceral to actually 'fly' the damn plane rather than point in a direction and have the computer calculated the proper motions.
"U mad, bro?" This plane alone got me 7-8 kills in one match. Magnus got 12 kills in that same match and we were mostly against Russian Laggs and Bi-planes. Good times. EDIT: Before you jump into it, Magnus has a replay if you really want to question my honesty. Was too exited to take a screenshot.
Believe me, I've got my share of absolute garbage matches too in TW. This match was really fun though. Me and Magnus pretty much carried the team against the Russian fighting force.
meh. My b-25 gunners took down a p-63 (minimum tier 9 that) damn near took out another 63 and badly damage 2 Bf 109s. if thats only 5 turrets i'm scared of what the b-17s will do. My tier 5 wildcat is holding its own against bf 109s. once you start doing the dive/climb with wild/hell cats (corsair as well) they are beasts.
Turns out there's actually a badge for shooting down a plane 10 tiers higher than yours . Don't know WTH he doing in our game though. I'm not really sure tiers matter all that much in this one until you get into the jets.
I ran one semi-realistic game (ie, not arcade but the next one up). I was flying around in my T1 and someone on our team had a Sabre.... Was awesome to watch, until he lost a wing... made a great missile after that.
