If it is cool with Fet we will switch but if doesnt I shall stay here. Have to wait till Magnus talks to him.
well if Fet doesn't show, I'm pretty certain we will find someone to replace him... for one, Haki has expressed interest. edit: Haki can't join because of school. oh well... no biggie. we will figure something out.
Ok.. so I think I am going to steal Magun's design with the shadow hawk and borrow one of Trev's TP. That should set up a pretty decent starting mech, and I will switch over my specialization over to AC/5.
Ok so Fet evidently has decided to switch over to lights also. So here I shall stay. In keeping with rest of lance going to jump up to bigger mech and rework my dude to reflect new mech. Not sure what mech yet cause not sure how the TP costs work for re-working a mech you buy. Once I get that straight I will pick something out and post it up.
To DFA someone you need to be able to jump from where you are to where they are. If you are starting your turn in the hex beside them then you need 1 JJ. If you are 4 away you need 4 to cover the ground between you.
Just fyi: while you can fit only 1 JJ if you just want the DFA option, it really won't give you many options to use it. With only 1 jump MP, you will need to start your movement turn next to your intended target if you want to DFA them (that isn't easy to do). Also, jumping over obstacles is limited by your JJ count; you can't jump on top of a height 4 object if you only have 3 JJs. Finally, you won't qualify for higher speed tiered missions in the campaign if you have less than a full compliment of JJs (JJs must match your walking speed). All that said, if you still really want to DFA things I recommend a minimum of 3 JJs. Anything less and you very likely won't have enough lift to reach your target.
Ok so out of my own curiosity have all of yall got your mech kitted out the way you want it and if so I wanna see em. Default Talos... for now. Either gonna go 4 srm4 for crit seeking (named the Talos 4M)or 2 srm 4 and upgrade the engine to 5/8 and go hunter/brawl(2M). As soon as we have access to Ferro Fibrous, should have enough money from salvage and scrap by then. I came up with a 4 lrm5 variant (1K) but it just produces gratuitous heat when firing alongside my primary ac10 at range. Just using the ac10 for range and mid then using only the srm4s once the range closes seems to produce significantly better results in testing (Significantly as in taking on 3 to 4 other mechs by yourself and winning). Possible names: (as I come up with them) "Candy Cane", and I'm gonna graffiti 'Suck my stick' on the ac10. "Lucky Shot", it's become a running joke for my ballistics weapons in MWO. "Dick Dastardly", if I upgrade to 5/8. Yes it's a wacky racer character; moving at 5/8 with way too much firepower/armor/threat than it has business carrying I thought the name might be fitting. "Negotiator" 4M 2M
Well, I've got the stock Eisenfaust 4J, for now. Holding onto those TP until I can think of something to do with the bugger. For names.... Iron Fist would be appropriate, but it's not very imaginative as that's it's name, only in English.
This rectangular body mech? Name him "Mr. Mailbox" and scream Mail Call every time you fire the primary weapons.
Looks more like "Zombie Unicorn" to me. And may I suggest Trev.... I am thinking of JJ's at some point.... but only two PPCs? That will suck if I get in close... which I do, quite a bit' cause shitty gunnery for now.
It be a gamble. You are slow as snail so you cant get away to hold your range, but if you catch something in the open that it would take 2 turns to cover very good chance it would be dead. 2 shots for 10pts. Stuff we are going against that pretty much strips whatever it hits to internals. I debated taking it but I wanted the extra movement speed.
Eh... I do okay with the set up I have now. During the exhbition matchs, I wasn't hitting much of anything until much closer range... I might out fit it for that at some point... when I get Sniper, or higher gunner
just my two cents: trev (or anyone else in a slow mech) will likely act as your anchor. an anchor usually best serves as area denial and/or fire support. however, being slow leaves you vulnerable to rush tactics... so while long range is important to be relevant in a mobile fight, the anchor will probably still need some kind of short range punch to fend off faster brawlers. dedicated snipers with no short range weapons usually work best on faster chassis since they have an easier time kiting their enemies. in fact, an eisenfaust fitted for short-ish to mid range coupled with two or three fast snipers could be quite effective: the fast snipers could keep the pressure on without too many worries since the eisenfaust would be there to keep away all but the most dedicated pushes. it could be a bit boring for the eisenfaust, but it would help compensate the lack of short range effectiveness of the other mechs. ... of course... this is just one option among many you could take
