Well since there is no thread (at least I couldn't find one) I'll make one. Pretty fun game. http://warthunder.com/ It is in open beta.
I'm waiting till they will introduce naval warfare (currently in alpha as I think). Might be really fun then.
This is quite possibly the most infuriating game I've ever played in my life, and yet is still strangely enjoyable.
i tend to be either really hot or really cold. i'll either lose all my planes quickly and get no kills, or massacre everything in my path.
I'm apparently a fucking god. I seem to have found my plane. Also, right after this, I was in my British reserve planes. We were losing, ended up only being me left with critical damage. I was able to get back to the base (in the mountain/Alps map), repair, launch, take out some of their ground targets (they had way more left than us), find their remaining enemy, get shot to critical again, draw him back to our remaining AA, turn the tables on him and get behind (despite having a grey wing and redish engine), chase him off (he then ran to his AA), dodge the flak, take him down, and weave my way out of danger for the victory. I got some applause in chat the whole way.
Are there P-38's? If there are P-38's then this game is my new favorite. If there no P-38's, then there should be. Spoiler P-38.
Downloaded, fired it up for a few min last night. Have to learn the controls still, tried joystick but mouse seems much more accurate at least on arcade. Almost shot flessar and ran into the enemy plane he was chasing. Oops.
the Joystick is really only necessary in the full realism mode, from what I hear. Arcade stuff you only really need a mouse. @Dihm: what are you flying in? I've been wrecking house in my Hurricane and now my Spitfire.
Just played a bit of this, it was a lot of fun and I'm quite impressed with the scope and detail put into the game.
I was way more interested April 1st... It wasn't just a trailer either; for a full 24 hours it was completely implemented. And the vids were freaking glorious. That day, this game gained my complete and total respect.
Wish I had fraps working. I just shot down two planes trying to kill me from the back gunner seat of my downed SBD Dauntless... and yes.. by "downed" i mean I was sitting on the ground with a dead engine. Went something very close to this: (fast-forward to 25 secs in) moments like that make this game totally worth it
Downloaded and enjoying.
how most people fly in this game: Yup, Arcade controls for now. Tried historical battles, tried arcade flight maneuvers, stalled, screamed like a little girl while going down, crashed. More training required
