I love it when downed catalinas (no wings and no tail) and gunners are just tearing up low flying enemies.
Ugh, yeah, I think thats where my issues were. I was testing out the controls in historical combat, so it was probably not the arcade mode, so the mouse wasn't working very well for me. I'd love to use the joystick, I have one, but the accuracy is nowhere near the mouse in the arcade mode, but I'd also like to work my way up eventually to the more 'realistic' versions, but I guess I'll use the mouse for now until I learn the game. I was also getting confused with the multiple dots showing up on the HUD, didn't at first realize that the mouse look let you 'look' in a direction to where the plane would eventually move to, but the reticule was totally different, but I'm still having some issues with hitting stuff, I don't think the target leading indicator is very accurate in all honesty.
and so now I'm going o be spending the next hour downloading yet another game thanks to you all, should be up and running this evening with it
Downloaded last night and played a couple rounds in arcade mode. I was murdering them . I may dig out my old joystick and step up to a higher level.
Well, after couple of matches in the starting planes I'm enjoying it. Got some kills and had fun overall. Very promising game.
It autosaves your last dozen or so matches, fyi. Check your Replays section, it might still be there.
Only done the tutorials and one proper battle put so far I'm quite happy with it. It's easy enough for a noob like me to pick up and get some kills, and that's nice. I haven't touched a flight sim since Tie Fighter after all...
It's just you The arcade mode with the mouse is a little screwy but you can use the keyboard for roll and yaw and that can help.
any of the planes I've had to play yet, I don't know the designations... and yeah I tried changing the control method and that just made it more screwed up
Ah yes, the last great flight sim...I miss that game so much. I would probably pay $150 for a version which would work in Windows 7, if GOG.com ever got around to creating such a monster. I haven't played it since I was in junior high, but what great memories. Anyhow, I'm downloading War Thunder and will give it a try. Spoiler I kind of want to see how it compares to World of Warplanes' alpha. Don't tell anyone I said that. :disturbed:
I hooked up my old joystick (just an el cheapo one with only 4 buttons and a throttle) and tried it out. I was much more effective with the mouse. The lack of fine control over the rudder made aiming nearly impossible. I haven't played a flying game in years. I kinda like this one
