Eh, I haven't really figured out my build yet, so no real requirements. Int and vit are always good, I was thinking about building a wiz that utilizes the passive to reduce cooldown on crit hits, so + chance to crit would be helpful. Right now I just need general upgrades on my stuff, I have a 500 DPS wand (just hit 60) and most of my armor is the in 2-300 range.

If I find any good bows I'll give 'em your way Sardonic, I don't have a DH currently

FINALLY got this... not a bad game. Addictive as Hell - like a tube of Pringles.

Just started Act II as of posting.

So, I have to admit... been getting back into D3. The tweaks to the end game make Inferno a lot more fun, so long as you're into the loot grind. I have a level 60 DH and Wizard in softcore, and some 20/40ish hardcore characters.

Anyone else still playing this that wants to buddy up in-game?

I may be persuaded to play again if I no longer have to sacrifice my firstborn child and my right hand to repair my armor.

Repairs can add up, but I'm definitely making more money than I'm losing, even without super elite gear. The way they've changed Inferno means that prioritizing resistances, armor and health actually pays off, especially with my Wizard. The extra survivability makes it way less frustrating for me, at least in the first two acts!

Also, with so many die-hard players it's not hard to get carried by a team of dedicated loot farmers, or to find gear on the gold auction house that would have sold for five times its current price. Not a bad time to see if the magic is still there, at least until we get a launch date on MW:O...

The competition that it has to measure against right now isn't MWO... it's GW2. And I like that quite a bit at the moment.

Oh long forgotten thread of a game long since condemned to the deepest pits of my hard drive, come forth!

A few days ago I redownloaded the game, because I heard that they had made some rather significant changes in preparation for the launch of the expansion, Reaper of Souls. Here are some of the changes that they've already made or are in the process of making:

    • As of the middle of this month they are removing the auction house entirely (both gold and real money). It was decided that the inclusion of that aspect undermined the core of diablo's game style: no kidding.
    • As a result, they are overhauling the loot system entirely to compensate. The game will have a much higher chance of dropping items specific to the class you are actually playing.
    • The old school difficulty levels are gone, I don't know how long ago that changed. Supposedly now the monsters scale with your level, and then there are further modifiers by adjusting the new difficulty scale itself. It ranges from normal to Torment (with torment having a scale of difficulty all of its own). Playing at higher difficulties yields more gold and exp, as well as increased drop changes for better gear and legendaries. Some legendaries are exclusive to Torment levels.
    • There are Paragon levels now beyond the level cap. They have no level cap, and they give paragon points that you can assign to various bonuses (such as CD reduction, attribute bonuses, crit chance, and gold find). It's not sizable enough that you notice a difference immediately, but I can see it having an impact over time.
    • Many of the skills were overhauled since I last played.
My reactions to everything over the last few days has been pretty positive. After about 30 minutes of play I noticed that the items I had previously grinded for weeks to obtain in old-school inferno were being outclassed by stuff dropping from normal mobs. I can't say that I was particularly irritated, given that the whole point of Diablo is a gear grind anyways, but prepare yourself if you held all of what you used to have in high regard. I have yet to find out what difficulty is at the same challenging level as what I was playing before. Torment 1 hasn't been awful for me so far, but I also haven't really ventured into anything past Act 1 at this point. I view the inclusion of the paragon levels and adjustable difficulty of the Torment difficulty as doing a great deal to further the re playability and endgame of D3. Last time around once I beat Inferno I kinda drifted away from it. Now, I can see it having a long-term time sink (which is what diablo has always marketed it self as anyways).

Reaper of souls will be introducing a 5th act, and a new class: the Crusader. It takes inspiration from the D2 Paladin, but with some significant changes. Based on what I've seen, it looks like a lot of fun.

TL; DR: D3 has had a lot of changes (auction house will soon be gone); I've enjoyed myself, and I think I'm going to play it regularly once more.

cant lie, i did the same as sardonic I just didnt take the time to write it up like that. The loot changes put the fun of hunting gear back into the game. the new difficulty system is...pretty ok. it seems a lot more fun since you can tune the difficulty for all lvls of the game, not just higher end shit. shitloads of new gear, great drops so far for my small wiz.

Yeah, I've been playing the game for the past couple days. Definitely a vast improvement over what the game was.

With the baby around, Diablo 3 has become my game of choice. Only really need one hand to play it, and I can pause when I need to do stuff for the babby.

That said, the core gameplay improvements have been vast. This game is now serious fun, almost comparable to it's venerable predecessor.

Awesome to hear! I played it all over again on the PS3 and loved it (includes a lot of the changes that are coming to PC now...).
Let me find my player ID and throw it on here, I'd play some PC Diablo just to chill with folks from the SoR. Have two softcore level 60s to hop around with that need some serious love.

IIRC Blizzard requires your SSN, three forms of official ID, two references, a headshot, and your latest physical now as proof of account ownership. Too many WoW hacks.

I have been very much enjoying the changes too. First run with my monk, 2 legenderies, 14 rares, 12 blues.

Both legenderies and 2 of the rares were upgrades.

My DH can hold his own in Torment 2 and 3 pretty well. Damage is rated around 110k, and my ability crits hit for around 900k to 1.2m.

For those who are interested in doing some torment, I'm usually playing late night PST right now. When I'm on, I'm also looking for company.

I stumbled upon the mechanic to create clans in D3 today, so I made us our own little hub.

This should make it easier than manually adding each person on the list. It also eliminates the need to figure out who is and isn't playing again. It can be found by going to the communities tab on the bottom right of the main page, and then searching clans for The Skjaldborg. The tag is BORG. From that point, just go ahead and request an invite

Obviously the structure of the D3 "clan" has no bearing or relevance within our actual organization; it's more of a hub than anything else.

I am unable to locate the Skjaldborg clan. I have tried searching for "The Skjaldborg," just "Skjaldborg," and even "Borg," but every time I get zero results. I even checked every language, just to be sure.
