Warning Cohh is not BT savvy at all, it will be frustrating as hell if you have any idea what he "should" do. Watching him stumble his way through defiantly made my eye twitch a few times.

True. But also means that it should be relatively easy for other new people to get into the universe. Which I think was the real goal. So yeah those of us who actually know battletech will get annoyed by him. But judging by how he didn't know some stuff (like the abbreviations for the locations, CT, RT etc.) He hasn't even played mechwarrior games.

I guess he (cohh) streamed some more later yesterday after the 1st stream and is streaming again today at 1 eastern. A few others out there 1 is a Russian streamer and I think there is a German streamer. Also the corporate schills ngng have it as well and 1 or 2 others.

Apparently some (or maybe all) mechs the rear armor value can go as high as the front. So you could make a mech with no weapons in the arms but the rear torso armor is as strong as the front.

So cohh did some stupid stuff in a mission and his spider got fucked up (on the front lines to much). Replacing limbs/torsos is bad. It's not so much the chill cost as the time (don't want to click the spoiler the spider is missing 4 locations). Sure it is a good chunk of his money but it will take nearly a month to repair the spider (8 days per section). Whereas a different mech that was damaged is a pittance money and time was because it's not replacing a whole section.

And someone on paradoxs battletech forums is butthurt about streamers who know nothing of battletech getting the game (even if it is a pre release unfinished version) before the backers.

Then they should have ponied up for the beta backer levels? I didn't. don't care for a pre-release version, just give the final deal in all its glory! ahhhh, the 24th is too far away.

this person was in the skirmish beta. they are saying it's not fair that the backers don't get the pre release game when there are streamers who are getting it. I could care less about having the pre-release version.

Streamers getting the game before customers is nothing different from when trade publications received early copies of games. The entire advertising industry around PC gaming has made a dramatic shift with the popularization of streaming. Where else can you get access to large sections of your target audience for free or low price advertising through the streamers? Even if the streamer is one that could charge say $3k for streaming it, and the are very few who can command those prices, it is so much less and so much more targeted than spending tens of thousands for a full page advertisement in PC Gamer.

Backers may be pissed, but the goal of advertising is to get new costumers in not to keep existing customers coming back, that is what game play is for. Backers are already getting the game, they are getting beta access if they pledged high enough, nothing I read when I backed it said that I was a special snowflake that would get it before everyone else because of how amazing I am.

Exactly. Give the game to someone unfamiliar with the game universe who has lots of followers most of whom are also unfamiliar with the universe. If they have a positive reaction and a good portion of the streamers followers want to buy the game well you may have just gotten thousands of people interested in not just the game but the universe. That's what Cohh is to them. He has close to a million followers on twitch. If he got even 1% of them to buy the game (10,000 people) well at $40 a copy he just got them $400,000. Which would go a ways to further development.

The Russian stream knows some of what he should be doing and he doesn't spoil most of the campaign because he rapidly clicks through everything. Even though its in Russian when he speaks, its positively more enjoyable to watch over cohh if your like me and have sudo-aneurisms every time you watch retards do retard things.

    details on the open-ended campaign:

    more detailed info:
    https://community.battletechgame.com/forums/threads/10137

In summary, the story campaign will be somewhat linear (with basically one of two outcomes), but during it and also after, you will be able to take randomly generated missions in that region of the Inner Sphere. It is confirmed you can keep playing even after the story campaign has wrapped up. The only way to really "lose" the game is if your mercenary command gets wiped out or goes bankrupt. In this aspect, it is similar to MW2: Mercenaries.

The devs have also stated that they would like to progress the scope of the game and timeline if the game proves to be a winning model. They have even cited other Paradox strategy titles as influence to this idea. If everything goes well, I'm fairly certain we can expect expansions.

Well this is interesting. Shouldn't effect this game much. But apparently the heatsinks in the engine will always be singles even in XL engines. I guess it was done as a future proofing balance decision. But I am assuming it will be true for clans when they come. What it means is clan mechs wouldn't be far superior to an equivalent IS mech (both with singles in the engine and then all others would be doubles).

I think it's also so DH mechs aren't vastly superior to the single heatsink mechs (and if you have the weight an space singles could actually be better and produce a cooling greater then the doubles.)

So on battletech forums about customization (started as a thread about the cent AH dropping an arm actuator being why it can mount an a.c. 20 but the cn9-a could do it in battletech without removing an actuator. OP first exposure to universe was MWO. Pretty sure the lower arm actuator thing is just a game thing. Not lore or tabletop thing. Also for battletech game the a.c. 20 takes less crit space then originally.) Now back to what was posted that i originally wanted.

Not me baby! If I have it and it fits in the hole, I'm shoving thebiggest boom maker I can in there. Duct tape, bailing wire and elbow grease are the only refit tools I need.
