Yeah started going to SCA stuff (I already had a renaissance outfit so why not). And when I see the sword fighting which insist is based on historical I just go "that looks wrong". Like they rest their swords on their shoulders partly so their opponent can't see the whole thing.

    For your "cultured" edu-tainment...

It is absolutely hilarious to me that there are examples of hentai that are better versions of their original source material. Well played, Japan. Well played.

Baki (2018) on Netflix is great for the gratuitous amounts of testosterone. I recommend it for its sheer insanity.

I haven't seen it, but a lot of people are talking about Vinland Saga (viking anime).

And oldie but a goodie I always recommend is Baccano! (Great Depression-era anime with surprisingly great English dub).

Newer and unrelated, but set in the same era, 91 Days is fantastic, dark, and also has a great dub... but be warned no one has plot armor in that show.

He doesn't, he genetically modified his scalp so his hair perpetually grows that way and turns green over time.

ReWatching robotech on amazon prime. And I forgot about this part when the zentradi bombard earth.

    Rick: "The Whole Planet!"
    Minmei: "are they all destroyed?"
Rick: (extremely monotone almost bored) "probably"

Something I didn't really notice the first time when I was younger. But now at 31 the lines are pretty funny with how bad they are.

Should have watched the Japanese uncut version since they still have it.

The english harmony gold version is notoriously bad because of how they rewrote the lines along with cutting and pasting stuff to change the story a bit to fit a more western audience.

Watchin' more Dr. Stone. I know the science is mostly played for dramatic effect, but it's still kind of ridiculous that Senku builds all these ridiculously complicated contraptions before building simple machines like gears and flyweights and such that'd make everything else ten billion times easier.

yeah, forcing people to crank the forge and the generator rather than simply using the power of the river is pretty much just Senku being a bit of a perverse sadist. At least he does the work himself, as well. Hell, I'm sure he could put together a rudimentary battery and throw up a wind turbine just as easy if he didn't want to relocate to the river. Also, I love how he magically gets the optics pefectly correct for both characters with 'fuzzy vision sickness' with no attempt whatsoever to even gauge their nearsightedness.

Well, I think the glasses thing is just that it's Breaking Bad science. It's grounded in reality, but if you actually ever tried to degauss a hard drive in lockup behind a foot-thick concrete wall all you'd get is arrested. And that's assuming you somehow managed to not blow yourself up cooking meth well before then.

I mean, it's the same as the stone age gasmasks. Why bother with the gasmasks at all when you could build a crane system? His artisan is talented enough to put together complicated glass devices like the water condenser, I'm sure he'd have no problem building a glass bucket (the handle would also have to be glass as the acid would destroy most available organics and metals) Sure you might risk dropping the bucket, but it's better than DYING :p

Okay so, My Hero Acedemia. Anyone else think that the inevitable conclusion of the series involves passing on One For All to multiple of his friends? I mean clearly the power gets stronger as it goes from person to person, why couldn't they just split it and multiply? It has to be passed willingly, have they even tried to pass it willingly to multiple inheritors? Might it not even be possible to include yourself in that group and simply split the juice? I mean I'm sure keeping the secret is the major reason it hasn't been tried, but if there were enough worthy candidates then keeping the secret wouldn't be as big a deal, if someone tried to capture one of you there'd be X many others to put the kibosh on that shit. I mean, if 5% of All Might is enough to bring his abilities up to the level of the other students, potentially you could ramp up 20 heroes by that same 5% of All Might, each one of them could choose a successor who then could start the heredity chain, building up the strength until all 20 are up to All Might strength and capability. Granted, inevitably someone nefarious would get their hands on the power once it was no longer a secret, but hell you could simply go the other route and keep splitting it until almost all of hero society had a little of One For All after generations of the elite corps of heroes delivering order and justice to the disadvantaged villains. Hell do it right and you could ritualize the act of passing on the power until the actual passing of the ability is all but forgotten and it's simply a right of passage into the hall of heroes. (consume pill, pill contains previous generations dna requirement, previous generation watches and provides consent out of sight so it is not apparent to the newer ranks how the ability is passed, method becomes lost into rhetoric and dogma and eventually is no longer actually passed on at all, but is so diluted as to no longer need to.)
