So, I know crap all about this game! But I've been having some frustrating fun, so I'm likely to start learning more as time goes on. What kinda' vehicles do ya'll run? What kind of playstyles do you gravitate towards?
MBT's mostly. I now have my Challenger 1, T-72A, XM1 as my top Tier machines, with my Leo 1A5 being the dark horse that simply cannot perform at the "Hard" level for me. I also have the BMP-1P, which is buckets of fun. A few thoughts: I will never, ever, EVER part with my T-72A. It's stupid fun once you learn how to play it. I get 9k battles on PvE easily. *Rick Astley can describe how I feel about this machine better* The Challenger is nigh indestructible to anything in the front 60 degrees forward arc. Literally. I have had no less than 8 AI tanks spamming AP fire at me. I'm talking Leopard 2's, Abrams, you name it. 30 rounds (or so) later, they all died, and I took 136DMG thanks to a BMP's HE-Frag round. That's it. The only issue is Arty - as my Challenger is slow, Arty makes me it's bitch more often than not. Till I get there, though. XM1 is just a good tank. Good armor, good mobility, decent gun, good ROF... it simply does nothing wrong or badly. I understand the Abrams is more of the same so I can't wait. Leo 1A5... it just cannot perform at the level required of it at Tier 5. Not in my hands at least - I'm sure somebody plays it much better than I do. My only hope is to get to the Leo 2AV, which is closer to what I'm used to with it's perforated steel laminate armor. @Diffusion9, that's basically KillBox's adventures in the Land of Heavy Metal. MBT's all the way, though I've got a grudging love for BMP's. Because it's silly.
I mostly play HCLA, wheeled destroyers and recon. I myself use a very adaptive playstyle and do everything.
I'm not that good with MBT's. I tend to rely on camo and speed with BMP's and Scouts. I picked up the Light Tank tree and enjoy it now that I know I'm not an MBT. Arty. Arty, arty, arty.. Love/Hate relationship. I'm 80% through to my tier8 Shishkin and grinding away.
Yes, I enjoy the gameplay there more. Well, I won't be playing WoT that much now either since tanks have been released for IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad
I believe that video is taken from team fusions mod for cliffs of Dover. Anyway the tanks in il-2: BoS are good. Also we should stop stealing this thread and take this to the combat air sim thread instead.
