In about 3 hours of playing I finished my Leo 1A5 and unlocked the Leo 2AV, and took my XM1 from 33% to 81%, and got all my doubles as is normal. My Challenger had a rather silly double - 33k XP, and I'm still 11k short of the next gun. The average game now nets 7k with premium, and about 4.5k without. But once again, I'm a couple million short. Leo 2AV is waiting for 4 million, and my ERBREMS is waiting for 6 million. I've got 3 in the bank and I'll sell off the XM1 once done, so I can get my Murica Machine. Germans will have to wait.
Got my Paladin this morning. Holy crap. That thing is a beast. It bounces everything and one-shots tier8 MBT's through the mantlet. It outruns Weisels and runs over everything else. In other news. I unlocked the Weisel. Don't have the cash for it. But it will be mine. Soon. My VBL is officially an MBT. Got into a match with nothing but MBT's and I. One scout. They made me an honorary MBT. They voted and everything. I bounced a shot from an M1. I really need to turn on Shadowplay.
i heard the XM1 is the best MBT in its tier (for the amount of shots it can bounce). you sure you want to sell it?
Already sold it - now in possession of my M1 Abrams (which will bounce as much and then some) and I'm liking it rather much, though the asking price of it's engines are a little stupid (1.4mil for an engine???). Reason being that, once I enter the game's economy at that level, I can buy back older, much cheaper tanks. From now on up it's diminishing returns. Like the XM1, the Abrams simply doesn't put it's foot wrong. It will bounce even Gorbachev rounds, it can DPM, and with its Gas Turbine it will go like the clappers. My problem is now that I'm again, poor as hell. Upgrade my Chally and ERBREMS and noticed that simply upgrading them COST MORE THAN THE ROSTER OF TANKS THAT PRECEDED THEM. 800k for a gun spewing 1.5k for a shell. 1.4mil for an engine. 900k for an armour package. Modules start at 300k for Mk. 1's. The ramp up from Tier 5 to Tier 7 is rather severe. Also, my 72A serves me well in Tier 6. I prefer the gun, lower profile and mobility.
At least it's not tier8 arty. In a good match with lots of damage done and the enemy arty gone from the picture, I still only make as much as I do in a tier4. Why? Ammo costs. I can put down over $40k just to do 2000 dmg in a match. If I do well, I'll see a gross income of about $80k. And that's if I survive. Their logic is all kinds of wonky when it comes to playing the "we take no risks and do massive damage un-checked" class everyone seems to think we play.
Weisel! Got! Holy crap this thing is awesome. I'll almost be sad when I have to go back to wheels for the CRAB. It's glued to the terrain in turns and is so tiny! I've driven murder-busses, murder-boats, and murder-bathtubs, but this thing is a little murder-scooter. Not one, or two, but THREE guns to choose from in the upgrade tree. Each loses RoF and DPM, but gains alpha and penetration. The second of the three (25mm/200rpm) gets to shoot APHE which, I swear, must be addictive because tanks seem to love getting shot in the ass with it.
I have so much more fun in the recon vehicles than anything else... well... *had* fun when there was time to play.

So this happened: Got drawn for the Black Friday Merc event. Shame I have no idea how to drive MBT's (as you can see from my garage list).
MBT-70 is very mobile for a MBT, almost like Vickers without any retrofits and unskilled driver. And its fairly easy to play, apart from rangefinder and lower glacis thing is unpenetrable frontally for anything up to its tier, side armour is not to be relied upon tough. In my opinion its biggest disadvantage is its reload time and accuracy that really could use buff of some kind, and thats are areas where I recommend to focus with retrofits.
I've discovered that I can deal with the reload time in PvE. I haven't taken it in to PvP yet, but imagine it will be more noticable. Where it truly falls short is the ammo capacity. The 10 ATGM's it carries severely limit the number of HEAT/AP rounds it can carry. Were it's ROF any faster, it'd be out of ammo halfway through a match.
One thing I have noticed is that, that You burn through much more ammo in PvE than in PvP, like twice as much or even more if reload is fast. And I hardly remember if I ever saw MBT-70 using its rockets. Wasn't ATGM count separate stack not shared with standard ammo capacity?
That's correct. ATGM's are in the secondary stack. But that's the only 'logical' reason I can see them hiding behind for such a low primary magazine size: The ATGM's take up the space. Took it into it's first PvP match tonight and aced it. Literally. 12v12 with the enemy team being mostly VFM-5's. Used it's speed to get around their Southern side in the city on Cold Front and proceeded to 'out-peek-a-boo' them while the rest of my team's MBT's camped on top of the hill in center. Hilarious that so many VFM drivers either think they're TD's or MBT's but never really get the hang of being an LT. They could have smoked me if they'd rushed around my flank.
The trick with the MBT-70 to use it's mobility aggressively, but it's gun sparingly. However, and it's something which I find to be counter-intuitive, you can't hold ground in a fire-fight like with any other MBT simply because it's takes a long afternoon to reload the gun. It's shoot and scoot, like arty, but with much more armour. Personally the HEAT rounds the only once worth anything - the Penetrators that thing fires are very underwhelming and coupled with it's dismal ROF... it's aweful. I carry 6 APFSDS and the rest is HEAT and ATGM
I like its AP rounds, I only use them against other MBT's that are hull down, and anything but an XM1 or Leo2 AV I can reliably penetrate it.
Which is why I carry 6 - but by the time that tank manages 5 reloads whatever's in front of me has either been killed by my team or it's killed me. Which is pretty sad - in real life, the MBT-70 could have worked had they not insisted on having the driver getting nauseous inside the turret, and having an enormous gun that insists on being able to shoot anything that could perceivably do some kind of damage from it's bore.
Free Type 59 for logging in atm. Also you can take fully researched vehicles and turn them into mini premium vehicles with the current patch. Instead of the 50% boost as normal, they get 25%. No vehicle restrictions other then the research bar being full.
