I was pleasantly surprised, of course, I -was- kinda going expecting it to be a high budget flop, so I suppose that's not saying a whole lot overall, but honestly, I think they may have actually made a fairly decent start for the JLA, some things I didn't much care for, but a lot of things I was rather pleased with, I think while it's not -quite- on the same level as Marvel's Avengers, it'll still be a decent story and judging on this movie it may actually be worth the investment.
Spoiler: Basic plot for fighting. do not enter if you don't want spoilers. Going to give some back story before going into the actual reason why they are fighting. From what I can tell the Bruce in this story is much darker then what he normally is. This is most likely because of the joker having killed robin, Bruce no longer gives a fuck about not killing anymore and will murder criminals in the act of stopping them, he does this multiple times during the movie. This is contrary to what he normally did which was just stopping them and letting the police take them into custody to be put into jail. So the batman in this movie is seriously brutal compared to the other batman's. So with that being said, Bruce sees superman as a bad guy for multiple of reason. He causes huge amounts of collateral damage, doesn't answer to the law(for the most part), and is practically invincible which he believes he will eventually turn corrupted and become evil. Maybe sort of a (lawful Evil kind of way). So he views him as a threat, which he tried to figure out a way to take him down which he eventually does with kryptonite. Now the reason superman wants to fight batman is because he thinks batman is a loose cannon, killing criminals without any oversight. With the main reason being Lex kidnaps supermans mom and tells superman to go kill batman or he will kill his mother. Lex wants to feel all powerful and have "gods" bow down to him. So im guessing you can guess what superman did, he actually tries to get batman to help him but he doesn't listen because, batman is just full of hatred at this point and then testosterone eventually takes over and they both just beat each other to death. I actually like the movie. if you watch it with zero expectations of what you think it should be. its a great movie with a new way of retelling the story. edits for grammar
Batman murders criminals, while superman gets people killed indirectly through his actions either by collateral damage or unseen consequences from his actions of trying to help people.
I thought their whole deal was that neither intentionally killed people, or am I remembering incorrectly?
this batman is supposed to be later and where he does kill people. which i think his thinking really is to not use guns and not kill but he has no issues with killing. early on i think he was judge, jury and executioner and the "no killing" was midwayish. the reason for the no guns was because his parents were killed by a gun.
Since you have seen the trailer you must know robin is dead. The words written on robins suit " HAHAHA jokes on you batman" can mean many things. It is actually a play on words for batman for when he kills the joker and his eventual downward spiral of becoming the final "joke" a criminal. This is a batman that gives zero fucks anymore, if you are a criminal he will murder/death/kill you. edits
Spoiler I was quite disappointed with the movie. The whole 2nd half could have been avoided if they had talked for 2 seconds before punching each others faces in. Superman could have shown up and been like "Hey lets talk for a second before we fight. Lex kidnapped my mom and wants me to kill you to keep me distracted from something happening at the crashed ship. If you still want to fight after we rescue her and save the planet we can." But lets not bring reason and logical thinking into a comic book movie. Also when Lex said he had no idea where Martha was, I would have killed him on the spot, or more likely ripped his arms and legs off then cauterized the stumps with my laser vision. Then ripped out his tongue and eyes, leaving him a blind, mute, quadruple amputee, able to hear everything around him but unable to communicate in any way. He would have gone even more insane very quickly. .....I tend to be a little more on the chaotic evil side of things.
right? not that i care even though i haven't seen it yet (and don't care if it's spoiled for me) just don't spoil it for others. also rather meh on if i see it or not.
