  1. I already asked about Age of War and got shot down boss. Looking for mechs that would be cheap and readily available for a newer mercenary force. Which means they're going to be kinda crappy starting out.

We can be the Skjaldborg Pogo Team!

    KHAAAAAAAANNN!!

Oh well, no massed inferno missiles then.

Now, help me decide between the Vulcan, Whitworth(s), and a Vindi.

  3. All those are decent - The Vulcan would help against local militias, the SRM Whitworth would be a crit-machine, and I've always kinda liked the Vindi. Vindi will run hot. Vulcan is the fastest of the group, similar speed profile to your PXH you love. I don't know what the armor profiles are like though.

For campaign purposes I think that Vulcan may be the way to go. Speed, jumps, plus anti-infantry and a flamer to set things on fire? Pretty good combo.

Yeah, that's the way I'm leaning too. It does lack any form of hands though. I'd have to point with my stubs at where I want you guys to go.

4/6/4 is just so SLOW for a Medium... the Whitworth with LRMs is tempting just because we don't seem to have much long range ability. The Whitworth with SRMs is sort of a mini-Wolverine WVR-7K, the mech I want to get when I have the funds.

Edit: Also, Trev, the ICR-1S Icarus II is an Age of War mech. ;)

After the time jump I think my modified Centurion AL is viable. I call it the AP but mostly it is just changing to double heatsinks and switching large laser for ppc and adding jj

Seriously?.... I told Magnus about it... and he didn't even say anything.... God damnit. I'll just wait until he gets back.

  7. 4/6/4 is way too slow for these weight profiles. Again, another reason I went with the Clint. Once I get the PPC on it it'll be a pretty effective light-mech hunter without having to spend a lot of money on reloading the AC that I'm sure I won't be accurate with

That Inferno Firebee would be REALLY annoying for opposing forces.

Well you could probably drop the small laser and try to upgrade the engine. Actually I think there are enough crits left over to upgrade to an XL if you wanted to.

I ASSUME this means that we can't upgrade our mechs right out of the gate to have tech from the Helm Core, we gotta wait a bit. I don't know how this effects you people who participated before the "time jump", don't know that you can slap Tech 2 mods on your "existing" mechs or not.

Well my existing mech is a javalin with 4 lrm 5's.... so it'd be completely changing mech not just upgrading.

You'll have to wait for the time jump to have that other 'mech.

    I know that.

  13. That was my assumption as well, 3025 tech ONLY. Even in 3048, most of the Helm Core stuff was reserved for House militaries and would be pretty expensive for mercs.

I can still upgrade to a Cataphract with Gauss....

    Yeah, good call there Skwi.

So... I have one participant thinking I should go with the Vulcan 5T.

My other thought was the Whitworth, either LRMs or SRMs.

1st Mod: Drop in a Pitban 240XL with double heat sinks. Use the freed up weight (hopefully there'd be some, going from a 160 to 240XL) and perhaps dropping a few sinks to add CASE. Up the Jump Jets to 6. So I'd be rockin' 6/9/6 with 3 MLAS and either 2 LRM-10 or 2 SRM-6, depending on if we needed long range punch or if I could be a crit seeker.

Would be my "stop-gap" till I could afford a WVR-7K.

  16. It's the only kind I make.

I haven't looked to see what components and tech time costs, but by the time you get done putting all that stuff on the Whitworth you might be able to just go buy the Wolverine. XL engines especially will be VERY expensive and probably pretty costly to install.

I dunno, that 7K is gonna be expensive as hell, with all the tech it has (pulse, XL, think it has either endo or ferro).

    Thanks buddy.

You just want me in a Vulcan don't you, cause it's a stupid stickman and I can burn people alive.

  19. I thought you'd get a Firestarter honestly.
