I must say that Fallout rebirth as a FPRPG was jarring with FO3, though New Vegas did do much to redeem it, so the format isn't too bad. It's just not very good.

I own the entire old school isometric Fallout series from GOG, including FO:Tactics, which was nice if not very canonical - if only because of the CTB (continuous turn-based) combat.

I'll get the GOTY on Steam, methinks.

I don't know why, but I never got all that into tactics. I played 1 & 2 through 4 or 5 times each, but tactics just fell flat with me. I don't think I even got past the first mission. Maybe it was just because I never felt like I had the freedom to just dick around that the first two give you.

My main issue with the swap to FPS is that it brought an FPS mind-set to the game. Yes there was a lot of combat in the old ones, but I feel the swap to FPS made combat the only real focus of the game.

But it doesn't say what DLC you get with which preorder.. How do I know which one to select..

Gunna have to call shenanigans on this one.

That and the fact that someone is attacking you every 5 meters you walk since you can't make a turn without bumping into a group of whatever enemies.

Bit of both, really. Fallout 3 had so much unused potential, and New Vegas got closer, but neither of them has gone as far as they can. Hoping Fallout 4 can make the jump.

Love the original Fallout - don't like the format change all too much after FO3.

On the plus side, the subways and underground was super-eerie, giving it a real feel of anxiety.

On the downside - they've gone and crammed the entire Fallout world into a First Person World no larger than a medium-sized farm - the "walking 5 feet between combat instances" gripe is totally legit. And Fallout 3 was literally nothing more than short walks between combat instances. New Vegas was more story driven and the DLC's were fun

    I hate to like fallout

I actually wish that you could join ANY faction in fallout, like you leave the vault, and lets say you want to be part of the ghouls, so you prove your self, or maybe just the type of character that you make is what faction/race you are.

There is always room for discussion on how to make something better. Such discussion can also be fruitful as it can give ideas for extensions, mods etc. so people can actually get what they want.

You should note that if it was something people hated then there would be very little or no talk. Hell, I'd wish one of my games would one day generate whole 3 pages of talk. There is no talk without real emotions. Emotions mean that something is done right. The talk is usually about what was best and what can be done better. Single sided praise is rare, it means you've made something that pushes genre limits and possibly makes game history.

When people complain, you can also see what they're not complaining about. When they're complaining about details, it's usually stuff that is relatively easy to change.

What I personally really hate are people on quora etc. who are like "no you can't bitch about games". Of course you can.

Take a car owner or pilot? They might love their vehicle but they'll also know all the quirks and weirdnesses about it and can go on for lengths on those.

That's actually one of the things that for me personally hits the immersion hardest from any single core feature. The feeling that the world itself may be lively place but your character feels like a sticker that floats above it without truly being a part of it.

Still a great game, but you actually found a thing that's been bothering me for a long time that I haven't been able to put to words. Yea, I was always so pissed about not being truly able to join BoS or so. At most they'd be like "oh, you can visit this empty warehouse and loot it. Gratz, you're now a 'member' ". Well, didn't feel like being a member. More arcs like that could be cool. I think Skyrim is a recent example of having multiple story arcs like that.

Bethesda's panel at E3 is scheduled for Sunday June 14 at 10pm EST, IGN is livestreaming and I'm sure there will be plenty others as well.

War, war never changes. Same with my love of the Fallout series. Some of the issues that bugged me were certain zones in FO3 and 4 that would cause my game to crash. Aside from that, the wonky and sometimes macabre characters are what draws me to the game. Little things like exploring the wasteland and seeing the aftermath of a violent event, or walking over a ridge line to see a shootout taking place between two factions, and later sniping the survivors to take EVERYONE's gear, or walking around in the open and suddenly seeing a body drop from the sky with no clue how it got flung so high in the air, or WHERE it got flung from.

The dim colors always attracted me as well. Accompanied by the music, it always gave that dark, hopeless feeling from the start. Yeah, I can barely wait for FO4! Until then, I found this mod for FONV called Project Brazil. It's practically an entire re-work of FONV set in California. I just started it last night after my MWO client kept crashing on launch. Here's the trailer:

nice - i remember talk about people working on that mod, didn't realize it was released! another absolutely epic one to try out if you have the GOTY and Ultimate editions of FO3 and NV is Tale of Two Wastelands. it basically ports FO3 into NV so you can play 1 character from birth in DC and continue the story westward (they have it set up to align for lore purposes).

    https://taleoftwowastelands.com/

i stumbled across it during my last play through simply because FO3 is so terribly unstable. this actually fixes a lot of the crashing but its really, really fun to keep the same character going for both games. lots of standard mods have been tweaked to work with it, and probably dozens more since i played. it's worth checking out

I'm going to be checking that one out next. Project Brazil is only partially completed, so once you make it to the end of the first installment, there's only the Black Bear area to explore. A few of the MOBs on the outside of the vault aren't balance yet though, so if you try it out and get to that point (without giving away any spoilers) be very careful sneaking around after the initial firefight. Aggro the wrong dudes after that and they will destroy your party, repeatedly.

That's the magic of the Stalker. She's had me under her spell since the first time I cracked 1000 damage in a pug match, two summers ago. It was love at first CT core.

You know what, if you end up reinstalling I could use some bodies for the Drakjagare. Firing it back up starting with a company dedicated to CW. By the time the training guides are finished, we'll have a plan to create a dirty dozen capable of stomping the shit out of all but the most pro, and we're gonna have fun doing it. The training it's self is going to be introduced from the perspective of a veteran (me) who survived the first wave of the clan invasion.

There's an RP element thrown in to make the training easier to go through. It's not just a plain-jane manual, it's a story line, first person account of the horrors faced during the initial invasion, and the methods used to eventually beat them back to the outer reaches again. I'm hoping the overall effect is a bad ass group of pilots who will run through a hail of fire and clash face to face with everything we come across, cracking jokes along the way.

Straight up Viking warrior style. Drakjagare, "Dragon Hunters."
