MechWarrior RPG final votes

Discussing the MechWarrior RPG final votes.

Things fairly determined, unless someone has a great idea:

Era: late 3040s (pre-clan, but only barely).
Theme: Privateers, working for someone to clear out pirates... leaning to Rasalhague or Steiner atm.
Not in Mechs
Space Combat and Planetside Combat/Espionage
Big Booms (demolitions)

So the discussion is Tuesday at 930 East or Thursday at 930 East?

 

BTW, we will start the week of the 7th of January, so either the 8th or 10th.

 

No mechs, huh? Is battle armor a go?

I have night classes on Thursdays, can show up late if we go Thursdays, but I'd prefer not to miss any of the action

 

its few to no mechs because if we wanted to play megamech, we would get on chat, RP and than play megamech. and as for battle armor, I think we wanted to avoid it for the most part but if like one of us is, than it might not be that bad (disclaimer: i am not GM, i do not have last say).

 

I belive the consensus was not "no mechs" but rather a sense that mechs would be secondary to other action. any character I make will probably have enough proficiency to hop in a mech make rolls, but will not be a crack pilot by any means.

Action similar to the Grey Death trilogy books, perhaps. There was a mech battle going on outside, but the focus was the hanger shoot-out... With the occasional creative use of mechs.

 

here's another question for you guys, do you want to discus character ideas/rolls/stats before hand or just come n blind, our characters not knowing each other? I kind of don't want us to end up with 3 "super sneaky backstab" guys with one of us leaving the other two useless (namely me ending up useless). we have all been there and it sucks.

 

How useless you are actually depends more on the GM than on the players. If you have a flexible GM, they'll figure out something to keep everyone busy regardless of how you make your characters. Doesn't mean the players have no responsibility, because they do, but the GM is one in charge of giving everyone a chance to contribute.

 

I'm pretty good at giving everyone their time in the spotlight... including kobolds, but I am not opposed to some planning on your guys part either.

I am dumb and will need help with making my character. I have some ideas, but new character creation system is confuuuuuusing my little brain area

 

If I where to create an example character and run threw some of the game mechanics on the team speak, with the help of google docs, would anyone want me to do that before we start? when would you like me to do it? and what would you like me to cover? example: damage (there are two types), how body armor works.

 

That would help me (at least) a bunch Moon!

 

I may be able to do one at 6:30PM PST this Wednesday. any objections? (I will try to post here if life happens)
