Any idea what I'm doing or have a character... no..

 

I'm planning to be there Tuesday.

I've got a character written up. (Thanks moon for the help)

Do I know what all these numbers mean and how to play? Eh, we'll see.

 

Thanks to moon and wolf for the introduction and help back on Wednesday. I've since read through about half of A Time of War .pdf and skimmed through the rest. I have a rough idea of how the game is played though a lot of the details will take me time to memorize. Fortunately the combat and action system looks similar to that of the table top game under Total Warfare rules and I recognize much of the equipment stats system from many hours spent building vehicles using TechManual. Speaking of which, if we have any need for rules-compatible custom vehicles, either player-owned or general use, I'd be happy to lend a hand designing and fleshing them out. Vees are always fun to build.

I've started work designing a character using the Life Modules method, currently reading through some of the Traits and Skills section before proceeding past Stage 3. Don't know how much backstory is required but I'm letting that develop as I go. Rough idea for the character right now is a non-combat-oriented shipboard-focused merchant marine from the Periphery. Its looking like he'll be down on his luck in wealth and have his share of enemies out there. I'm using a modified saved copy of moon's spreadsheet to build the character and will keep each Stage in separate columns for easier checking on Monday.

I'm no expert in character building yet, though I know enough now to help others new to the system get started if anyone else needs help.

 

So I am totally lost as far as character creation goes.. thought I understood it but seems everything is fubar. Plaze halp!

 

Life near the Periphery is pretty rough.

Sure, we have a local mercenary group defending our planet, but that's a lot of ground for 36 mechs to cover.

Pirate attacks are constant, and we are fed up.

Preachers keep going on about the end of the world. They say some great force lurks in the Periphery, ready to strike. Lunatics they are, the lot of them.

I say it's time we fight back against these thugs and their constant threat. I say we take the fight to them, invade their worlds. I say the time for hiding is over!

Who is with me?

 

i should be on the TS3 for most of the day (playing torchlight 2) if you want help with a character than hop on.

 

You said you were going to be on at 6:30.. was that PAC or EST or?

 

I'll be on TS, the RHoD league team has a practice so Im not sure what will be going on when, but I'll be about

 

my family decided that we are going out of town today and I may not be back in time. Ill send in what I have of my back story, and I will definitely be there next week.

I have about 3 outstanding characters I haven't received yet.

To this end, I will be available Sunday for a little bit (after CCO meeting, but I have another meeting at 7 east). And Monday.

I want to have all the characters done before we play Tuesday (or they get introduced late). We are playing this week with what we have done.

I have heard from one, character in progress. I expect to have it tomorrow.

Saw one on TS, no reply.

Haven't seen #3 at all, but I think he is tied up on Tuesday this week anyway.

Last Night, in MechWarrior......

A group of individuals enjoying some down time in the local bar "The Reactor Core" are suddenly scrambling to avoid a pirate invasion.

Rallying to a nearby J. Edgar Hover tank, the group flees to the edge of town, trying to find a functional communications tower to call for reinforcements from The Outlaws mercenary unit.

While fleeing, the tank is forced to defend itself from an enemy Savannah Master.

The message is successfully sent, the pirates are routed, and the recently acquainted friends rush back to town to survey the damage.

The Edge and Beyond Mercantile Company, where many of the saviors of the city work is suddenly not receptive to them. A security officer is given a few days of paid leave as the company repairs the damage and ascertains what has been stolen.

But things aren't adding up.... what will be involved next week in MechWarrior?

Haven't touched it up, but the raw creation chunk of my character sheet is above, ready to be looked over by... anyone really

Obviously theres a longer story, but just for context, the short story is:

Young kid fell in with the wrong crowd on a periphery planet, and after a rough youth in a gang, his crimes finally caught up with him. To avoid a tough prison sentence, he joined up with law enforcement and went into deep undercover for several years. After busting 3 sizable criminal organizations, his life became fairly forfiet in the area. He took what gear he had and hopped off world to find work as a freelancer, and hopefully leave his past in his space dust... hopefully.

 

Sounds good for starters, Oodlez. I will let Moon or someone else double check your math. Get me a final history when you can, but it is a great start.

 

Id like to point out a few things. the only people who know how to drive (the tank) are the only two girls, and our strongest character who could kick our asses is also a girl. just saying.

 

So, you're saying all is as it should be?
