1.21 is out! They also have candidate release of 1.22 out as well. I am waiting to see which one is more stable. click here for details (check out patch notes) http://megamek.info/ As soon as I find out more details I will start working on updating our build to the newest version. Stay tuned! Notable changes: -revamped and IMPROVED mechlab: skunkwerks is still probably better overall, but at least now the built-in mechlab is easier to use -more planet info added to stellar map
Progress on MagnusPack 4.0: GIFs fixed: chassis "AC/2 Carrier" "vehicles/ac2carrier.gif" chassis "Axel" "vehicles/patton.gif" chassis "BattleMech Recovery Vehicle" "vehicles/RTV.gif" chassis "Heavy BattleMech Recovery Vehicle" "vehicles/RTV.gif" chassis "J-37 Ordnance Transport" "vehicles/hq.gif" chassis "Maxim Heavy Scout" "vehicles/maxim.gif" chassis "Marathon" "vehicles/marathon.gif" chassis "MRM Carrier" "vehicles/srmcarrier.gif" chassis "Prowler Multi-Terrain Vehicle" "vehicles/prowler.gif" chassis "Vanguard Medium Tank" "vehicles/vanguard_1.gif" New "canon-friendly" designs (created by me) have been reduced in number and made more appropriate for their primary roles: Vehicles: "Cannonball X1" - unchanged (smallest well-armored wheeled scout with a turret) "Harbinger" - removed unnecessary/broken variants (don't worry, the SRM and rocket versions are still there) "Goblin Medium Tank" variants- returned it to its primary role as an Infantry Support Vehicle (removed Main Battle Tank versions, kept LRM and SPG versions) "Hetzer (SPG)" - a hetzer that doesn't suck at all "Ignis Light Artillery (SPG)" - lightest mobile artillery (will be used for Artillery Support bonuses) "Karnov M Gunship" - removed (broken) "Karnov M Transport" - unchanged "Patton Tank" variants- removed XL engine version (not cost effective) "Pegasus Scout tank" variants - readjusted armor placement and doubled ammo for LRM version (better for indirect fire support) "Recovery-Transport Vehicle (RTV)" - unchanged "SS/A-M Truck" - unchanged (smallest and cheapest fire support available) "Taskmaster (HQ)" - unchanged "Vanguard Medium Tank" - 45 tons (takes the place of the Goblin MBT); a cheap but very effective fast Main Battle Tank "Vedette Medium Tank" variants - finally, Vedettes that doesn't suck (two versions: a cheap intro tech version and an expensive/awesome version... Gauss Rifle pwnage!)
Not at all... especially when I found some sweet art to go with its TRO. (and yes, it has a custom .gif icon for MM that matches the art)
12 new avatars for MagnusPack 4.0! (some came out a bit better than others. will try to polish them up a bit when i have time)
ask and ye shall receive... (maybe) note: after posting i realized i trimmed the right shoulder a bit too much. fixed that. it looks more like the original now. also, the resolution was just barely high enough but i think it actually helped in creating a more hand-drawn but life-like portrait... which is the general style i am trying maintain (with a few very obvious exceptions)
If someone wants to help speed things along by creating .gif icons for two specific mechs i would greatly appreciate it: Look in the icon folder to find an appropriate template: ...\mekhq-0.1.20 & MP3.9\data\images\units\mechs (remember that it must be kept in .gif format and exactly 84x72 resolution) And here is a template .gif image for those too lazy to find them: Uller: ALSO: IF ANYONE SPOTS ANY BUGS OR ISSUES THAT NEED FIXING, NOW WOULD BE THE TIME TO POINT THEM OUT.
That Talos is so sexy. From now on I'm going to tell people that the Talos is what the clans used as a base for the Mad Cat.
Further work to be done on new megamek build: -Finalize Random Mission Generator. -Create .gifs for Talos & Alfar mechs. -Consider new designation system for player created designs. -Review previously made custom player designs. -"Project Mordred" -??? Reassessments of previous player designs: Skwi's Grasshopper GHR-5H/5R 'Southpaw' Previous testing found that the Grasshopper GHR-5H/GR 'Southpaw' LRM launcher to be under-utilize and the ammo a potential vulnerability. Future testing and possible redesign is needed. (Note from Magnus: anything you would like to do about this design? keep/change/remove?). Skwi's Clint CLNT-2-3P 'Eastwood' Against all odds, this mech with paper thin armor remained combat ready throughout the entire campaign. However, upgrading the heat sinks to DHS and using the saved weight to improve armor would be a very smart move. (Note from Magnus: Should the upgrade be a new designation or replace the old version?). Barbie and Ghiest's Catapult CLP-R1 The Catapult CLP-R1's jumpjets do not provide any significant amount of lift; 2 mp won't get you anywhere simply walking can't do...also, if you can use indirect fire effectively, there is no need to be on high ground. It is recommended they are dropped for much needed armor (currently, only 10 tons; very light for a 65 ton mech). Improving armor would improve survival rate of the CLP-R1. Given their high attrition rate last campaign, this redesign is highly recommended. (Note from Magnus: this change is highly recommdend and will not sacrifice any firepower. You can always add the JJs back later once you get more upgrades) Helkan's Mongoose MON-67 MkII The MON-67 MkII is a very effective infighter, but speed and agility is its main defense. Against a skilled and determined enemy, it can be cut down all too easily at shorter ranges. Perhaps equipping it with one or two longer range weapons (LRM5s?) might be a good idea for when getting in close is suicide. (Note from Magnus: Not sure where Helkan is :disturbed ===== Designs by MagnusEffect up for revision: Banshee BNC-3Eb DONE! 2580 SLDF refit Cicada CDA-3D/3E DONE! As I expected... "New MekHQ Release 0.1.23 Release Candidate 2 Submitted by Taharqa on Sun, 03/03/2013 - 15:27 We have another release candidate available for download on the downloads page. There were just a few bug fixes from the last one, but a couple of them are significant enough that we have decided to put out a second release candidate. We will give this one a week so please give it a thorough test. Full changelog: v0.1.23 Release Candidate 2 (2013-03-03) + updated code for changes to MegaMek entity.setC3Master + Bug 312: Multiple entries in the units.cache + Bug 309: MekLab Body part Issue + Bug 310: Contract Travel Time + Bug 308: Quirks not exported to MUL files + Bug 313: Gyro damage /= gyro destroyed + Updated MM.jar to r9180 + Bug 311: Unable to remove Contracts/Missions + Fixed a few of raw type references, but there are still over 100 more on JComboBox and DefaultComboBoxModel that I don't know how to handle." They are right about the fixes being significant, though. Bug 312, 310, & 308 were particularly annoying.
I'll get some rebuilds put together for these soon. I was already thinking about DHS/armor for the Clint along with an upgrade to an ERPPC. Southpaw I'm not sure what I want to do with.
