probably will be added in by mods, the devs of X-com often rely on the modding community to pick up on these kinds of oversights.

So, I've played through about 2/3s of the game I think. Some more thoughts:

Normal is too easy, I'm breezing through 3 stage boss encounters. Part of the issue is that there are too many tricks you can play to get out 3 or 4 moves per turn. Grenades of any sort are 'free' and don't count toward action. Certain support or side skills are the same. Some actions will always end a turn, but if you do them in a specific order you can get more actions per turn. Like shooting will always end your turn but using Terminal's drone to heal first doesn't, so there's never a reason NOT to heal someone.

The drone is also OP. 4 HP heal per turn every turn? The one hard encounter I dealt with so far where 3 out of 4 squaddies dropped, I had Terminal in a corner with 2 melee aliens wailing on her. Popped a smoke grenade (Free action), drone healed myself every turn and just kept firing. They were missing enough that I just face tanked them and shot them with an SMG.

I do like that you can position behind the opposite team without fearing the triggering of additional troops like in XCOM 2.

The turn order, and the manipulation of the turn order, is good and bad. You can focus fire just on the next enemy on the timeline so they never get a chance to do anything. I do like that it takes a little more thinking on how to handle certain situations like saving your teammates skin since they're down in the queue, but overall I'd say it makes the game easier.

City management is pretty ho hum, you get some actions you can use to reduce the anarchy, so far my districts have gone red 1-2 times, overall city anarchy has ticked up 1 (out of a total of like 8 or something), which is nothing, so I haven't been bothered by it yet but its also pretty easy.

So short version if you want a challenge put it on harder difficulties. Mid game you start steamrolling encounters when you get more stuff.

I like it for the most part so far. Because you said normal was too easy I started on hard. And hard is kinda easy still. Unless your outnumbered about 4 to 1. If the numbers are relatively even or 2 to 1 it's fairly easy. I think Terminal can actually heal for both actions in 1 turn (occasionally I do have to heal 2 different members of the team.)

And once I started using Verge's Psi abilities it got a little easier.

I mean, none of us are Xcom newbies, I wouldn't have started on normal anyway, unless all I wanted to do was watch the story and then I could just watch a letsplay or one of you guys stream it for me :p

It is obviously still X-Com but different. You don't have as much freedom in training as the old X-Com 2 but the units have more personality and uniqueness. The breach mechanic is interesting and the selection of where and which order to breach comes in handy.

I like it in a different way.
