Cool stuff! I wouldn't be opposed to locking the server so long as we had some sort of PvP ground rules that allowed it to happen with out the aggressor being branded an asshole by the community as a whole. A Day Z server without PvP isn't interesting to me, but at the same time, just locking a server would prevent hacking, but would quickly degenerate into what happens on every other server and everyone shoots on sight because there is no incentive not to.
How about set up free fire hours? Like every third hour on the server is kill on site time? Or set up team's / objectives to complete such as X pk's and Y zed kills in 30min.
Hmm.. A black-hat lottery? Draw numbers each week to see who the 'badguys' are. Random, blind pick. Or... And this just came to me in a flash of nostalgia. How about a good ol' game of Assassin? Each survivor is given the name of another survivor and can kill no one but that survivor. If you make your kill, that survivor is now a white-hat (good guy) and does no more killing and is off the list. The name of their target is given to you and you continue on. At the end of the cycle, you should have one winner and a bunch of white-hats. You can guess what happens then.
A whole lota ppl who are congratulating the victor and boasting with him over pints of mead and regaling his heroics necessary in bringing them down. Or knowing us, hunting him mercilessly while promising doom upon his entire family and future generations, along with minor details about unmentionable portions of the body. Probably some Dihm 40 shades reading to the victor as well just so they decide to suck next week and not go through that again.
It can be super hard to tell which player is who, not to mention if you draw a name to assassinate that is rarely/never on when you are. I think the best would be 2 teams with some victory condition(s) that both are racing to achieve first, constantly being spoiled and thwarted. First person to land a helicopter ontop of the castle WHILE carrying a can of mountain dew?
Sorry to disappoint but the server won't be up today, I'll get back to you when I get it up and running, due to some unforseen circumstances my brothers laptop hasn't made it here yet .
In my defense, the unforeseen circumstance is no fault of mine. Also, I resent any presumed use of my personal computer.
My hero! I'll bring the car I found and we can run over zombies. IGN is TyeDyeZombie... or it should be. Don't shoot the hippy zombie!
LOL running over zombies was the single best thing of Dead Island, that and killing people with beach balls
ok so I can't seem to get day z commander to see or update my steam installed copy of arma2 any suggestions?
You should be able to assign your arma2 folder manually by going to settings and browsing for it. After that is done it should be a simple matter of updating it. Hope these screenshots help:
maybe this helps : http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/How_to_install_DayZ Yesterday was big fun with you guys! I promise ill never use an enfield ever again If anyone is up for a killingspree on a public server ( im a pvp junky ) im in cherno in the church geared up with low / med grade stuff and i have a spare AKM I have no camp so basically I just spawn and try to find me a weapon and then try to kill as many as I can untill i get killed. Rince and repeat. Ill try to get me a vehicle and setup a camp on the private server and go for the PvE experience there Cheers Redeye aka UT
thanks for the help guys, ended up that I had never launched operation arrowhead to finish its installation so that prevented the dayz commander from updating it correctly. Hopefully I'll be running away from zombies screaming like a little girl in no time.
