Graphics were only downgraded for the console versions, the PC version is much better looking then the consoles. but this is what happens when you shovel a 5 year old graphics card into a would be PC and thinks its going to produce a miracle graphics machine. your average 300 to 400 dollar card is about twice as powerful as the card PS4 which is about 15% more powerful then the xbone
If anybody wants to group for some dark zone action i'm 8/5 (level 8 normal, level 5 darkzone) and would like to have some fun.
During closed beta the game really started to grow on me, I played way more than I thought I would and was quite surprised when 4am would roll around when I had planned on getting off hours before. I had been looking foreword to open beta to see if it would keep me entertained as much. Sadly with traveling I was only able to play a couple of times yesterday, thankfully it did give me enough time with it. The movement/cover system feels clunky, I'm far too used to fps games, I'm far more used to it than during closed beta but it still isn't natural for me. While I had become used to the damage model they use in closed beta, helped by using high powered dmr's to aim through a scope and two shot about everyone, it again feels incredibly bullet spongy as I started to level up again. The loot system felt frustrating this time, before it was exciting to see if something new was dropped, this time I felt like I was running around most of the time trying to get my old preferred setup back with an AK and an M14. The thought of trying to redo some of the missions with an smg and an m4 was not appealing to me. All in all I'm glad but also sad to have been able to play it again, it seems like the game has so much potential. Even if the play style isn't my normal, it makes for a fun experience. It will be something that I will probably buy down the road but it isn't something that I'm about to pre-order at this point like I was about to after closed beta.
If they get beefier weapons, (grenade launchers / rpg / chain guns) in further levels then I'd be interested, but the same 5 weapons you see all around, get boring real quick. how many sniper / smg ers are you going to see.
I had a group of 3 RL friends all on Skype, and we 4-manned the Dark Zone all weekend. Talk about fun, wow. Issues with the game aside, I'll be picking it up for the multiplayer, 4 man squad PvP alone. Still some problems with going rogue being unbalanced and undesirable (the penalties are faaaar worse than the rewards!), and the PvE is still garbage; I shudder to think what they will try to pass as "end game" PvE. But yeah, the 4 man PvP is great. Being able to kill someone, take their loot, and acquire rank and currency from it is something I've wanted back in MMORPGs for a long time. I just hope it doesn't get old too fast. Even by the end of the beta, I was ignoring drops completely because I had everything I wanted (except a damn purple M1A!). Also, the fact that players can instance hop for a few hours and buy whatever items they want is really dumb. I hope they bind vendor loot tables to the character rather than the party so people can't do that anymore. All well, as I said, 4 player PvP is great fun, my group of friends are all getting it, so I'll probably buy it at release. I'd still NOT recommend it, especially at its current price, unless you intend to partake in the Dark Zone and have friends to play with; neither the PvE nor the solo play are, IMO, worth it at $60, that's where I really went wrong when I tried it in closed beta, I think. Here's where I ended up at the end of open beta:
So... I have a free copy of The Division. Not sure I want to play it or not. Anyone here going to be playing it for any length of time?
Its a decently fun game, I know I sank way more time than I ever planed to in the betas. Most of the time I was trying to find ways to tell my self not to get it, I almost managed to pull it off but in the end the game has entertainment value worth sinking time into. I'm still fairly sure its not worth full price but its at least a decent enough game.
Well, I got it 'free' with my purchase of the GTX 970. So yeah... Debating on selling it for more, or keeping it.
My experience was very similar to MH's. I spent time trying actively trying to hate it, and i succeeded in the first closed beta because I played almost exclusively PvE and solo (check my post history in this thread), but during open beta I played almost exclusively PvP with 3 friends and had a ton of fun; most fun I've had in RPG style PvP in a while. Might give you some insight into whether you want to keep your key or not, Trev.
well i had been working hard to convince myself of how much i hate this game but anytime i've thought back to the few hours i spent in the closed beta i'm starting to think maybe i actually did kinda enjoy myself, there just wasn't a ton to actually do in the beta cdkeys has it for $46, ended up picking it up as a few of you and some old buddies grabbed it too. should be good times for a couple months if nothing else!
I've bought it, and I will play it quite alot. I'm just not that interested in PvP. I like the PvE, sure it could be more realistic, but that's not the game I'm buying into. The Dark Zone is interesting, and as far as I've been able to form an opinion decent enough. Going rogue has its penalties, and as someone who intensely dislikes ganking I'm totally fine with the heaviness of said penalties. I'm looking forward to Wednesday, and I hope there's enough to do for everyone, even if one dislikes the PvE elements, or PvP for that matter. My main problem is that I won't be able to sink as many hours into it as quickly as I'd like, but maybe that's a good thing. Maybe I should take my time and explore something that will no doubt fuel my enduring love affair with well crafted sandbox-style maps and NYC. And I hope that subsequent DLC/expansions unlock more and more of Manhattan and Brooklyn.
hopefully will be a slow day for work tomorrow, i'm aiming to be on by noon. i love working from home edit: pidian12 is my uplay username edit2: realized i mathed wrong , thought it was releasing 11am CST instead of 11pm...
When are people going to be playing this? I think the only time I will probably be able to play is maybe on a Wednesday night if I am in town or maybe for a little while on Thursday. I wont be around on the weekends, so if that is mainly when people are playing it might not be worth it. It looks interesting though. I kind of want to see full gameplay reviews and things though. Also, I want to know how it is going to run on a Core i5 GTX 970 16GB RAM
