juggernaut seems fun, but I've never really been able to get into playing as a heavy. I've played a bit of DB but I always end up switching to something more mobile
In my mind the juggernaut is what the sentinel ought to be. Those plasma mortars can basically 1 shot most people except other heavies, just get into a position overlooking their base hella far away and start lobbing. dialing the shots in takes some practice, but it's fun. If you want to mix it up often times you can make a pretty good run at generator, and your mortars can take it down very quickly. When you upgrade to the full auto secondary you can actually duel pretty well (although the juggernaut spinfuser is underrated for dueling).
I played a few rounds just as soldier yesterday, did mostly base defense and did pretty well, was like 7-2 at the end of the round, not bad for still on rank 1. Have to figure out the mechanics a little better still. For CTF, whoever has most flag captures wins, correct? And you have to return the enemy flag to your flag podium or somewhere else? The generator just takes out the base defenses or does it do anything else when blown up? Lastly, where/how do you get vehicles?
For CTF, your team has to retain your flag at your base, in order to capture their flag. You need to take their flag to you same location as your team's flag to capture. The Generator being taken out also disables health regen stations, ammo supply stations, and vehicle stations. To get vehicles, you have to have your generator up and running, and have enough credits(earned from fighting in game) to spawn a vehicle. You just need to find the vehicle spawning stations. Tell you want Tuna, I'll probably be playing some tonight, so just show up, and we'll play with whomever else is playing.
First team to capture enemy flag 5 times wins. Enemy flag has to be returned to your flagstand and your flag has to be there for it to register as a cap. Generator takes out base defenses and shields as well as inventory stations. Not sure about vehicles, I haven't tried them yet.
Found a few helpful things on Reddit Tribes section.... First an easy visual noob guide: http://puu.sh/w7SC Second, mouse pickup lag fix: Link: http://www.reddit.com/comments/t1t7a/extremely_important_ini_tweak_that_drastically/ "Before you read the following fix, I'd like to ask one main thing in the following responses: ASK HI REZ TO INCLUDE THIS AS AN IN-GAME MENU OPTION. My basic understanding of the below fix is as follows: Essentially, UE3 by default decides to lag mouse inputs in exchange for better frame rate. It's a setting that while not a big deal for console games, is a huge deal for PC games. By turning the OneFrameThreadLag setting to false, you'll notice an immediate and sudden improvement in how your mouse feels in game. This is because your direct input is no longer delayed by X amount of frames. Please note though, that as mentioned above, this does come at a frame rate penalty. If you're on a PC that can barely play T:A in its current form, this fix might make the game unplayable. If you're on a more modern PC, you shouldn't have a noticable frame hit. Fix is below this line. Go to: C:\Users*YOUR PC NAME*\Documents\My Games\Tribes Ascend\TribesGame\Config Open: Tribes.ini Insert under DirectionalLightMaps=True the following: "OneFrameThreadLag=False" (without " marks) Save the ini. Enjoy drastically increased mouse responsiveness." Note that if you are using the Steam version the path to the ini file looks something like: E:\Steam\steamapps\common\tribes\TribesGame\Config
Yeah got this game today, looks fun so far. Oh and thanks Tuonela, this was really helpful. Btw: Username: CraveThePiratePanda
I have been playing the tribes games for years and find them to be the most fun FPS games available. I go by the name UnPhazeable (in Tribes Ascend) if anyone wants to add me to their friends list.
Been runing a nasty brute combo: dev spinfusor plasma cannon/The hammer (depending on the map and how much time I think I'll be outdoors) extended fractals Survival pack Safety Third Ultra capacitor 2 I have a ton of stopping power/survivability indoors, but can still handle myself outdoors when base sniping or stand clearing. The 25% move speed bonus from the upgraded survival pack makes me a lot more formidable than people expect, while the Hammer can really ruin the day of the lights and mediums who think they can just close and hover over a heavy outdoors.
so got my fastest ski ever with my raider, 210. Love this class. Note I have never played any of the light class's yet..
If you have a need for speed you should focus on the pathfinder class. The light classes can get some serious speed and air.
Been playing a decent amount lately, mostly pathfinder, infiltrator, and raider. Raider is probably my #1, haven't unlocked much but I love generator raiding and taking out enemy defenses. Infiltrator is fun as well, mostly for the same reasons although its generator destruction ability is a little lacking, takes too long. Pathfinder I'm trying to get good at grabbing the flag at top speed, mostly need to learn the maps to make it back alive and in one piece. Unlocking things takes foreeeeever
Just had my best game yet.. 3800 exp, 27000ish points, 34 kills, 5 generator destructions, 1 man army bonus, multikills, 5x airmails... Raiders are fun.
