    Oh, oh, oh. Oh.

Cadaver. If I skip the Supercharger (which would kinda suck, one perk of those was being able to Omni pod them) I wouldn't even need to do the engine overhaul, just up it 5 tons after turning it Clan....

I gotta go Torso to limit the MechWarrior Madness

Nope. 5 ton upgrade requires both the overhaul and an engine swap "upgrade" at the same time even if the rating and type of the engine stays the same

Are you sure? The base price is significantly higher.

The Cadaver A1 costs 7.5 million
And the other model, the T1, costs 8.786 million

    Before upgrades

Keep in mind this is a complete retrofit so the mech can pretty much look however you want, and we're not really using a lot of mech portraits in our character profiles this time around. It's your call though.

HOWEVER, that T1 variant WOULD provide you with early access to MASC.... don't know how a center torso cockpit in a mech with the unbalanced design quirk would work out though, might want to invest in piloting if you go that route.

You could easily wait it out though until you have another 900000 for an overhaul when you have enough rep to equip the Pack Hunter with MASC.

The first few contracts are gonna be easy initial rep gains kill raiders and pirates from what I understand.

Vehicles are always a thing too. It wouldn't be a bad idea to spend some of that extra cash on a ultralight vtol and pay a merc or hired goon to fly around the battlefield giving you an eye in the sky. Would be a great help to plan your approach on mean targets, especially in a light mech.

Ohhhh, like, drone or NPC or for my Handler? Or just buy the vehicle and pay a charge each mission?

For mercs I believe it's a charge, you have to pay them their cut for participating, you own the vehicle though. Probably be pretty cheap though if all they're doing is flying an unarmed copter. I don't know if there's any VTOL drones yet, although there are wheeled drones. Like I said I wouldn't field your Handler casually, especially in something as lightly defended as a light VTOL. They are essential to maintaining your logistics and negotiating better pay as that's what they're skilled in.

On that note it would benefit you to have a spare mech/vehicle/whatever for your handler in case they need to make a quick escape or are put in danger/forced from the dropship. And lord knows you have the money for something like that.

You could also buy a second one of those Packhunter Alpha's since they're cheap enough and upgrade it to be a drone. Drone hybridization's only 600k plus an advanced equipment package.

I don't imagine it living too long in Drone hands, but it may be worth considering

Keep in mind that "hybridization" goes both ways. Not only can it be given AI control, but it can also be controlled remotely by another person.

Theoretically, you could do this to create a "clone army" based on your mech. However, drones controlled directly suffer a gun and pilot +1 penalty and all BV rules still apply... so there is a trade off. :)

VTOL drones are totally in, Magnus did a great write-up about them, and how remote sensor launchers can be fitted to mechs and dropships: http://www.theskjaldborg.com/index....ncer-skills-and-attributes.11321/#post-266756

I think Imma skip Supercharger upgrade, use that ton for a 1 ton UAV drone...

The really nice thing about on-board deployable recon sensors is that they have relaxed rules compared to other units:
    • between-mission replacements are essentially free
    • can be controlled directly without having to hire a pilot
    • are not limited by drone hybridization rules
    • do not contribute to your total BV
They are inherently fragile, but very expendable and a far better alternative to risking your own neck when scouting an unknown area.

I don't know about UAV drones though. This is the Princess AI we're talking about, she's likely to fly your unarmed scout vtol allahu ackbar style right at the enemy mechs instead of making using defensive maneuvering.

no, regarding specifically the UAV drone, you can control it directly. you only get two of them per ton, so it's pretty essential you can control them directly.
