I give it a 8 only because it has to explain about 16 hours of gameplay in a little over 2 hours of movie time and to do it as well as they did is quite a accomplishment.

The two things I would have change would be showing how garona was made.

how gul'dan came to power as a warlock with drinking mannoroths blood and how he corrupted the orcs with it as well as the land.

Well, 40+ minutes of footage was cut from the theatrical version and could end up in a director's cut. Already confirmed that they cut a bunch out about Garona's backstory. Lookin' forward to that. Still trying to figure out who the chick inside the box was. Could've been Aegwynn?

I liked the movie, but I went to a non-3d standard film version and this film -needs- high speed, a lot of the sweeping vistas and glorious scenery was lost in motion blur.

I saw mine in IMAX and a few of the scenes were blurry as well.

A few parts in some fights, the sweeping scenes of stormwind and over head view showing the orcs over taking towns.

When still stormwind and ironforge looked amazing.

You could also see the zone changes in the far off distances which was cool.

Since they are also building a lot in 3D models makes me wonder if in 10 to 15 years we will be playing a all new Warcraft game with using the in movie models.

Very possible if you consider power increase of computers and GPU by then.

Forgot to post, my brother who is the biggest Warcraft fan went to see it on opening day and..

..after years of his hype, he said he felt ashamed for the people who made the movie.

But then, that's his two cents. I was going to go see it but I'm busy and it's like a week from opening and it's at 7.6 IMDB and 29% at Rotten.

Then again I've loved some movies that got 5. something at IMDB for instance. Some movies just divide people up harder.

Those models cost millions to make so they're not exactly going to bin them! On the other hand they could be more than a million vertexes each, possibly even 10M or more, who knows? It is possible they had several LOD levels for the movie too and we might see the lower end ones in games soon as the high end LOD models.

It's the thing with rendering for movie vs. rendering during runtime. It's perfectly OK to spend 30 minutes per frame for a movie or even more, in a game you're hoping for <15ms peak rend time.

Maybe it's because I just don't have a raging WoW fanboner, but I thought the movie was fucking awful.

Some of the graphics, particularly the magic, looked really awesome, but that was the one redeeming quality for me. The acting was pretty damn abysmal as a rule, and the writing felt choppy as hell.

I can see how it might appeal to the nostalgia of those who offered up their wallets and time before the altar of Warcraft over the course of several years, but, I don't fall into that category. Even being relatively familiar with the lore of warcraft, it wasn't enough to help me look beyond the objectively terrible acting and cinematic pacing.

For years I have had it in my mind that I would really love to see a proper film adaptation of Starcraft. After seeing Warcraft, I sincerely hope that universe never has to submit to the grotesque IP-skullfucking its fantasy-themed brother experienced.

High end GPU at the time were around 400 gigaflops. Now high end cards are around 8800 gigaflops.

    With that being said

GPU are around 22 times more powerful then those around 10 years ago.

If we even have a 10 times increase over the next 10 years we will be sitting with cards with about 80 to 90 teraflops.

Which is rather easy when it's actually been about a 35 % increase in performance every year.

So if we start with just 8 teraflops, in ten years if power increases by 35 percent again every year it should be around 160 teraflops. But that is going by 2006 to 2016 data.

Increases will start to die off eventually.

This seems to jive with all the reviews I've seen. People who are not steeped in the source material come out with this impression.

    The pacing is quite bad.

But that's to be expected when you have a story written and everything done and then a editor from corporate comes in and chops 1/5 of your movie out.

They said it was done to make it less story and more action, because that's what people want. they want pretty lights and explosions. It's why Michael bay movie fests are as popular as they are and keep getting popped out.

But then again my brother who is really truly serious Warcraft fan hated the movie. Also the movie is like a week past it's premiere and it's already below 8 at IMDB where every new movie, no matter how they suck tend to go over 9 in the opening week.

We will see if this rate of improvement will continue for the next 10 years.

Indeed we already have games that look better than rendered movies some ago.

I was just thinking in a shorter time frame than you.
