Only problem I see being an issue is the fact that it's from Ubisoft. Will not buy if some bullshit DRM is involved. Also, really cool physics engines does not a "deep and vast" game make. Don't drink the punch guys. They did this same showcase bullshit for Watchdogs. Wait until we see more information on the actual gameplay mechanics. I will be more impressed if they come out with compelling gameplay that I can still enjoy six months after release.
same place im at. im expecting this game to be a far stretch from my initial impressions at its first unveiling...
Nah, Uplay is still there, they just got rid of most of the restrictions on the DRM. You can install on multiple systems, you do not need a internet connection to play your games, you do still have to launch via Uplay, but you can disable any online connection of it(except for Key check), and a few other things were removed that were pissing people off Honestly, it's not all that bad now. Uplay actually seems rather lightweight on the computer when compared to Steam, doesn't bog the system down at all, really. I'd prefer Uplay over EA's Origin anyday
What? Don't like your hdd's being scanned by origin and then having the info sent to ea? Why they haven't been taken to court over this I have no clue. The game seems to be going down a hole of "kill anyone not in your group and your group if you want there stuffs more"
huh. i honestly hadn't previously realized it would be so seemingly open world RPG with gear, abilities, and roles. i honestly haven't kept super up-to-date on it but i always thought it was going to be more of a shooter with gadgets. put me down as a bit more intrigued with that revelation either way, much better trailer than the last one i saw (the E3 trailer last summer). was a bit more focused on the game instead of "hey 13yr old kids! you can PK your friends and steal their shit! it's hilarious!"
Reading back over this thread and checking the game website and such, I think it looks fun. The core game premise is really cool, and the PVP is restricted to the Dark Zones where basically you don't want to go alone or with people you don't know. With a Borg group Dark Zone loot grabs should be doable. Details on Agent upgrades
I promise not to kill anybody on my team for their loote...... for the LOL's well thats a different story. but LOOT, no... Frag out... at who... umm the shadow around the corner.... BUT I:M AROUND BOOM.... oops...
I've intentionally stayed in the dark on this expecting it to be an overhyped flop. Don't want to get hopes up
sweet article. i'm still skeptical of the game but the updates i've been reading today certainly seem more promising than i honestly was expecting. might be moving back towards cautiously optimistic...we'll see... this is great. whether or not they'll have the stones to stick to this reputation system once the kiddies start crying remains to be seen
Safe zones where there is no pvp, if only such fantasies existed in post apocalyptic society. edit for grammar
You can group and co-op the main story or just explore the PvE area together. You can pick and add skills but you can also change them at any time so you're not locked in. The Dark Zone is PvP enabled but there are also PvE elements in there as well and Dark Zone is not automatically a free-for-all. If you attack another player in the Dark Zone then you're tagged as a "Rogue" and get a bounty on your head - not only you but your whole group as well if you're in one. Everybody can see that you're Rogue and it's open season. The more I read about it and watch vids this sounds like it has a lot of elements of a multi-player Fallout. There's a lot of exploration and environmental open world elements to go with the combat.
wait so pvp is slightly discouraged? not frowned upon just discouraged. is it really a "this guy doesn't want anyone to have fun so fuck him we'll allow everyone else to attack him". at least that's how the rogue thing sounds to me.
Right. If you attack somebody you're labeled rogue for a certain amount of time and other players can kill you with no penalty, plus add to their DZ rank. Apparently there's some kind of penalty system as well based on how much damage you do while rogue, like if you just clip somebody on accident you're only rogue for 15 seconds or so but if you're set up mowing people down then you stay rogue for a longer time. Based on what I've read once you leave the DZ, rogue or not, all is forgiven and cleared out.
