There's still the question of what areas are accessible, building interiors, etc. Getting the big buildings in is pretty straightforward, but details matter a lot in level design. Geez, if the solution to the crisis was just to wander around shooting young black men, why couldn't the NYPD handle this on their own?
I hate to say it, but I'm most likely not going to be getting this game until its on a huge sale. It looks really cool, the concept is awesome, but I can't get past the RPG bullet sponge part. Escape from Tarkov looks like the hardcore fps rpg that really fits me better.
Hm, well, watching that gameplay made me more interested, but that could be because of the riot shield. RIOTSHIELD4LYFE I need to get over my 'shooting people with a gun should probably kill people pretty quick' preconception and look at the game for what it is. Looks like it could be good tactical fun with a group just like Borderlands was.
i thought the division was going to have zombies/mutants. unless that was really early concept thing. not for every threat but in some areas there were going to be mutants from the unknown disease. like not everyone who was infected died. though that may not be happening.
yeah, the guys behind EFT are some of the same people who made the Stalker game and that holds way more water to me than whatever new empty promises Ubisoft is shelling out. I'm not saying The Division will suck, but I would really caution against pre-ordering it. Their track record is mediocre at best.
I like reading the comments from console users about how ubisoft lowered/downgraded the graphics compared to 2 years ago. Maybe your next gen console isn't as next gen as you thought
on cdkeys.com it is $34.23 right now. I wouldn't pre order it though. if it's still that price after launch maybe.
i was so incredibly excited by when survarium was announced having a bunch of the old stalker devs on the team. hopefully EFT will be the open-world game the survarium guys should have made instead of a shitty arena shooter... and saying ubisoft's track record is mediocre at best is probably giving them a bit too much credit at this point, lol
A lot of complaints about bullet spam from a group so dedicated to dakka and the shooting of more of it. We played Borderlands and loved it. I may be picking this up sooner rather than later.
this... its basically doing this with the combat Also, the game appears to be drawing a lot of Destiny comparisons... and I fucking hated Destiny. I could look past the rest of it, but the bullet sponge mechanics really does bother me. It's good for casual players that need a few seconds to tank bullets passing through their foreheads, but it really kills it for someone like me who can appreciate proper CQC tactics. I'm not saying all games like this need to have super realistic weapon behavior, but it really shouldn't take an entire magazine to kill a random mob. Also not saying I won't play it if most of everyone else is, but I'm definitely waiting for proper reviews on this one. I don't trust Ubisoft's hype machine. P.S. - I never got excited about Borderlands... not saying it was a bad game though...
borderlands was unique and memorable because it didn't take itself seriously AT ALL, treated itself like a game, and played very tightly. it was funny and fun on the other hand, from what i've seen, the division it takes itself a bit too seriously (srsly, why is clancy's name on this?). it portrays itself as an intense tactical shooter (or at least that's how it was initially advertised), but the gunplay lacks punch, seems uninspired even at higher levels, and the entirely of each firefight appears to be: find super sneaky cover->deploy tech toys->pewpewpewpew->shift cover animation->pewpewpewpewpew->shift cover animation->pewpewpew->rez buddy for 5th time of fight->pewpewpewpew->shift cover animation->pewpewpewpewpewpewpewpew->phat lewtz i hope i'm wrong and it's awesome tbh, i just don't forsee the game having a lot of depth or longevity
It sounds like a story he would have done. Maybe that is why his name is on it? Looked it up. Apparently ubisoft bought the rights to his name back in 2008 so basically even if the games are shit they are banking on his fans buying them just because his name is on them. I think they also cut him out of the developement. Supposedly he oversaw all the games before then.
that's a very good point. i really don't get why Tom Clancy's name is attached to this project other than for stupid marketing reasons. it doesn't seem to play anything like the other Tom Clancy games (at least the ones I remember).
