Has anyone here been using it yet in testing? Windows 8 really didn't interest me at all with its interface but the more "traditional" option offered in 10 seems promising, how have you all found the UI in 10 to be with use? Looking at changing to it when the official release version comes out but with running nvidia surround I'm a bit hesitant to make the jump from 7 where I know it works (atleast for me, sorry Ghiz) I know there are drivers for nvidia already so hopefully there will only be minor issues on surround. The big question is how is it to use on a daily basis.

I have the option to update to windows 10 from windows 7 for free. Just debating on it since I think a few of the programs I use may not like windows 10 just yet. I will be getting it eventual because of direct x 12 being connected to windows 10 if I recall and also connected with Microsoft's hololens. so its just a matter of time for me.

So with that being said I would also like to know how it runs in compared to windows 7 and 8.

I signed up for the free upgrade to. Havent used but from everything ive read it sounds like a big improvement on (stepback) 8.

I've been emulating win 10 early access build at work, so no extensive testing. However from what I've seen it's shaping up very nicely. The start menu is back, albeit a bit different. Imagine the annoying windows 8 start screen, condensed into a much more logical and customization menu system. I'm looking forward to the upgrade.

I've heard good things from those who've used it, especially on the gaming front you get some good performance gains. I'm doing the free upgrade from 7 after skipping 8

Imho Microsoft intentionally fuck up the interim versions (8, Vista etc.) so that the 'actual' releases look that much better in comparison.

As of late I'm too cautious to move forward with anything among the first people. I've got projects and shit that just need to work and I have in the past burnt myself having to waste 2+ months just fixing stuff that weren't broken because I moved forward too fast with versions and new versions had issues.

So, no, not until a ton of Unity users are saying it's fine.

I want to upgrade, but my computer doesn't seem to want to do it. I never got some silly icon that says i'm ready, even after doing all the update things and all the stuff support told me to do.

  8. My laptop's got 8.1 so I'm going to try upgrading it first. If I like 10 that much more I'll update my desktop (currently running 7) as well.

I think I will on the gaming PC (Win 7) within that free year. No real reason, just 'cause.

Same here. The 8 is so fucked up that I just can't loathe it enough.

notification isn't bothering me. wondering if I should get another external hardrive to back up my computer before I update just incase. they say you will be able to rollback to 7 (or 8) but still. my current external is full of shit but I know even if I delete stuff it won't have the space.

I'm going to hold off on the upgrade for at least one week. I want to hear full, in depth analysis from those of you that have used it or are starting too. Then I'll switch, if it's okay.

Yep. Good advice, especially if you use your machine for more than just basic internet surfing and word processing.

  18. Laptop is ready for upgrade, I'll play around with it and try to get some input here in the next couple days.

I'll be upgrading my wife's laptop. She'll be my guinea pig. It has win8.1 anyway..., what's the worst that could happen? :psychotic:

  20. Yep, so does mine. I basically only use it for web browsing so it's a good test mule.
