I've got a 2004 Chevy Avalanche, it's a nice ride, got the full size cab without having to deal with the extra bed length, and if you need a full size bed you can lay down the seats in the back for that extra space. I don't need a lot of bed space often so it's pretty much perfect for me.

 

So a little more details on why I am looking for a new vehicle.

I had a 2016 RAM Rebel but my brother recently totaled it. It wasn't his fault, I just like blaming him.

An elderly driver lost control, crossed 3 lanes of traffic and ran over the curb hitting my truck on the passenger side, as my brother was waiting to turn out of a parking lot. He couldn't reverse out of the way because of cars behind him and couldn't pull out because of oncoming traffic. The cops said the elderly guys car hit my truck doing more than double the speed limit (60+ in a 30).

Anyway, the insurance company totaled my new truck, because of major frame damage, so I am looking for something that won't take a big hit on depreciation. Just can't see shelling out another 55k for a new truck and less than a year later its only worth 40k or less.

I like trucks and suv's, they are what I grew up driving on the farm; also, I am not a small person, so the extra room is nice. I actually use the truck bed fairly frequently, but wouldn't mind getting an suv to keep some cargo capacity, while getting rid of all my brothers asking for help moving/towing crap. Which is why I have been looking at the Toyota 4Runner. All the reviews say its one of the last true suv's, but is a little under-powered, and Jeep Grand Cherokee is the only real competition for it off road.

 

Sounds like you have a pretty good idea of what you want.

Don't really know that much about any models, trucks can have their uses but SUVs I dislike.

When buying a car just writing down your name on the paper without leaving the dealer is going to make the value drop.

Just make sure you get some good winter tyres alongside the 4wd and you should be good.

I know people that like horror movies but I doubt they want to live a jigsaw experience.

Just because you like to watch something doesn’t always mean you want to experience it in real life.

 

So do you actually want a small camper or not?

 

Only because I can’t have one since I live in the US which has stupid laws about importing new vehicles. Has to be at least 25 years old.

 

Yeah. Don’t really know what to say about this. I just sort of laugh every time I see it.

It looks like they completely missed the point of a truck. What on earth are you going to haul or tow with this thing?

 

Specs wise everything is outstanding.
Top spec is 500 mile range, 0-60 in under 3 seconds, 14k towing, ride height and dampening adjustable air suspension, air compressor outlet, 110/240 electrical outlets. Gas savings is also stupidly high because the average big truck is around 8 to 12 miles a gallon. Average electrical bill is around what 8 to 15 cents to the gallon of gas for comparison. It is a very utilitarian truck that has been taken to the extreme..


Aesthetics it is quite straight forward pun intended, but easy to manufacture as everything is literally straight lines.

It is also a complete redesign of how a truck is built. A normal truck is just huge body with a bed slapped on a rolling frame and the frame is what takes all the stress. This thing has a ultra hard outer body which they call the exoskeleton from what I remember. The exoskeleton is what takes most of the stress.

The problem I see is that this won’t pass current DOT regulations because vehicles now have to pass a test in which they can only do so much damage to a pedestrian. This is why current cars now crumble and fall apart with minor hits. The vehicle is supposed to act more like a cushion and not a giant rolling triangular brick.

 

Ah, I didn't hear them mention the towing capacity and feared the worst. I was also looking at that bed and thought it looked kind of on the small side--more like a crossover vehicle than a normal truck bed. Could be it just looks smaller than it is though.

 

This reminds me of the futuristic car I remember seeing in one of those MST3K films XD

 

Almost forgot these actually existed back in the 60's. Turbine powered car.
