Why is this thread dying? Stop dying, thread! As soon as my decal gets here, I'll post a picture to revive this thread. Spoiler: it's a bear. Not that bear though. Someone invent animated decals and I'll gladly drive around with the clapping bear right in the middle of my hood.
actually wouldn't be that terribly difficult for such a simple animation, just use the old school refraction lens 'moving images' similar to this, the animation speed would be determined by how quickly they passed by. Bear would be extremely excited by people going the other direction, and providing a bored golf clap for people passing him (or he's passing). Getting someone to apply that lens to the laminate of your car might be interesting, but that'd really be the only 'difficult' part of it, you'd create a still like this layer refractive lens over top (apparently referred to as Lenticular Printing)
Well, I sold my car, and have no funds with which to purchase another for at least a year, maybe longer. (Not that owning a car in the GTA is a particularly good idea, but it'd be nice for weekend errands in the Mississauga area instead of relying on transit)
Everything I've found has been bulk quantities. That would be cool for a Borg sticker where it shifts between the three shields, but not much use for an individual application. I'll keep looking though because it would be pretty fucking cool. Also, bear. And a fun start button.
Flock of Porters at work today, my normal ride on the left and Der bunte Fredi on the right in for some maintenance and training for the new owner.
it'd probably have to be done custom, but it -could- be done. Though I'm sure you could find a market for animated decals, hell, just an animated decal flipping everyone off would probably break the bank.
But it would make me feel so much better, which is the important part. I don't mind spending more of Dihm's money for my happiness.
not really awesome but hyundai is going to try to introduce a truck. don't think they ever actually produced one (at least not in the US) that is the santa cruz concept. it is actually a small truck (smaller than the chevy colorado, toyota tacoma which are midsize). They term it as a crossover truck (like the CUVs). if it stays that styling it will probably fail. simply because it doesn't look like a truck. everything else in that styling has. size wise it's similar to crossover SUVs. which the colorados already are. thing doesn't even have a proper crew cab. doesn't even look like it'd be useful as a truck. might as well get a crossover.
Seems to me like Hyundai has horribly misjudged the target demographic for most trucks in the US. :/ On another note, who else is stoked for the Civic Hatchback reveal in NY?
I dunno, Subaru sold quite a few of their little Baja pickup-thingys awhile back. I think they'd sell enough to make it worthwhile.
Hyundi says it's there most intensive focus group ever for the design. who the hell are thay asking? it's either goddamn millenials (which I think the actual millenial generation should be starting around 1995 not the 80s.) or non-americans. i mean if you are going to make a truck talk to americans not anyone outside of america. i mean america is the only place where pick ups are truly common. that civic does look nice. and sounds better than the tuck hyundai is going to try.
Ironically, I think the Hyundai truck looks kinda cool, but I am also quite far from the typical "truck guy."
well yeah i like the look. and i guess it really depends on what your needs are truck wise if you buy it. if they extended it by 15-30 inches (enough to get an actual crew cab in instead of the short crew cab. both are 4 seats but the shorter ones have the rear hinged half doors) it would probably do much better (as an option). and still be roughly the size they need. I look at needs before style/appearance which is how i know i don't want a full size truck (f-150, silverdo and bigger) because i don't need anything that big. there is a market for small trucks. no one makes one right now. not that i need or even want a new car. only engine the article mentions though is a 2.0 liter turbo diesel which seems a slightly odd choice.
Maybe they're trying to fill a perceived hole in t he market for a small truck that's also relatively eco-friendly? If ever I did go looking for a truck, a smaller, full-efficient sort with a relatively low cost of ownership is definitely what I'd look for.
alternatively, they might be trying to fill that niche of people who don't really want a truck at all, but sometimes have a need of more space than can comfortably be fit inside a normal vehicle, so having a bed in the back can come in useful. It certainly looks better than most hatchbacks, and it definitely doesn't look like most trucks, while still having the power profile to at least -look- like it's capable of doing the job... though I've no idea what's under the hood to know if it actually can
whoops i forgot the north part. so i was still correct. but should have put north america instead of just america.
huh. honda skipped a model year with the ridgeline which is their small (and only) truck. new ones are coming out this spring. it actually looks kinda nice.
