Okay, gonna slightly change the topic here. As I sit here in my living room listening to a song it struck me; who else would recognize this? Old anime fans will, but probably not because of the anime itself. I don't know how many times I heard this song on trailers for anime Viz distributed. Oh and Genocyber is worth the watch, it is old school hyper violence.
How about you all stop being lazy and learn the Japanese language and be awesome like me. :headbanger: or is that now cultural appropriation in this new politically correct world. well.. im about 80% of the time okay when watching. still have much more to go with learning. it also screws with your sentences structuring a bit because of how a japanese sentence is formed. also.. your mind at times will randomly jump from one language to another. it can be rather.. weird at times. even more so when you blurt out a japanese word mid sentence in real life and everyone just looks at you with a total "what the fuck did you just say look".
I was waiting for someone to say that... Cowboy Bebop Samurai Champloo Baccano! FLCL Ghost In The Shell Space Dandy Code Guessjeans Shin-chan etc. I don't have the time to consume all the anime out there so I usually only bother to watch the top 10%. Besides, most anime is shit.
So 8 shows out of thousands... Funny how I can watch shows like archer, South Park, boondocks, MLP, and everything is good. Then comes English dubs for anime and I feel like throwing up.
see the problem isn't the animation being dubbed, it's the company being too cheap to hire American (or other English speaking countries') voice actors. They either use non-native speaking voice actors, or they hire non-voice actors to read lines without bothering to determine if they're even capable of emoting in the medium, or even reading lines in a way that doesn't sound like it was computer generated. Some of the best of the worst are the hentai dubs, since they have no problem hiring porn actors, in spite of the fact that most pornography requires about the same level of acting skill as the grade school talent show. So yes, there are tons of bad dubs because the vast majority of anime are only sold across the pond as an afterthought, paid for by opportunists trying to make a quick buck, not a serious attempt to make a quality product for American viewing pleasure. Some of the most amusing scenes in some anime aren't even 'dubbed' they're when they have 'Americans' in the non-dubbed anime and they are speaking in such hacked up English they might as well have just spoken in Klingon for all the authenticity it provides.
^I don't waste my time watching those. The way I see it, if the production company doesn't care enough to make a decent dub, it ain't worth my time. There are some obvious exceptions, of course. Even then, there is a lot of anime out there I still want to see, but haven't had the time.
More like money at this point. They wanting 100 to 140 dollars now for 12/13 episodes and some shows are two seasons or more. Looking at kill la kill, your lie in April, gundam origin or unicorn. I'd rather buy 2 or 3 other full animes for that price. Which I do
