I have not read the whole thread, so forgive me if this has already been answered. Does anyone know if Attack on Titan is going to come back with season 2??
If we're making lists of our favorite Anime, that's pretty easy for me 1: Cowboy Bebop 2: Redline 3: Trigun 4: Black Lagoon 5: Ghost in the Shell I've also bookmarked Kill la Kill on Crunchyroll to see if I'll like it. It looks about as over-the-top as Gurren Lagann, so we'll see.
Pretty much. If you liked Gurren Lagann I don't see too many reasons why you wouldn't like Kill la Kill too. 'Cause I needed excuse to use this pic.
I couldn't possibly give a list of anime in any kind of order, what I can give is a few anime I haven't seen in the thread yet, that I found to be enjoyable (no I haven't read through the entire thread, I skimmed through most of it so if something has been mentioned before, forgive me) Rune Soldier: it's one of those kinda useless male hero makes good with a team of cute girls harem that doesn't really like him all that much anime's, it's not terribly long but it's amusing and has 'tasteful' fan service. Disgaea: if you haven't played any of the games, the anime is the next best thing, gives a great synopsis of the first game without giving away too much (if you want to play the game there's still plenty of stuff they don't show, technically the end of the series is one of the 'not so good' endings) really do enjoy this series, both games and anime and I'll recommend both till the end of time (much as possible anyway ) Grenadier: this is a silly anime, lots of preposterous fanservice and the ending has got to be one of the utterly 'gayest' endings I've ever seen, besides that it was funny and interesting, and the fight scenes are always amazing in spite of the fact that you have to bite down on a huge grain of salt to accept that she's able to reload her gun by popping rounds from her cleavage and catching them in the air. Airbats 801 T.T.S.: a more serious anime about a small squadron of japanese pilots, it's pretty decent and a good watch, one of those competition shows involving modern fighter jets. Betterman: the name is a little strange, but basically gives a good idea of what the story is about, a 'better' man, can be crazy and creepy at times and sometimes the science is completely pulled out of the writers ass, but it's still fun and interesting to watch. Last Exile: this show is amazing, I love it, takes place in a world that seems like it's some kind of retro technology worlds, in the future and advanced but lots of tech has been lost due to time so it's got a more steam punk feel, but the run around in flying vanships and have enormous naval battles and old school rifle lines, it can be pretty intense. (there's also a second part, Fam, The Silver Wing, if you like Last Exile you'll want to watch it) Soul Eater: now this is another crazy series, you got a crazy twist of characters, basically paired fighting teams where one of the members of the team actually -is- the weapon, transforms into a weapon form for the other to wield, and they get some crazy fights going, they're all attempting to destroy these bad guys that feed on human souls, and they get more powerful by feeding on the bad guy souls, it gets pretty twisted over time. Also, Death himself is a main character, and one of the goals of the characters is to progress their weapon until it's strong enough for Death himself. Railgun (a certain scientific) and Index (a certain magical): these two anime's are intertwined, the characters pass back and forth between them willy nilly, I haven't seen the end of either but both are interesting and I really like the interplay between the two shows. Shakugan no Shana: this is a really twisted series, similar to the old 'it all started the day I died' except that, it all starts the day he finds out he's already dead and has been dead for a while, apparently. There's something different about this particular torch which of course gets revealed over the course of the series, but the simple skinny is that Shana is a Flame Haze, partnered with a 'good' denizen from the Crimson World who respects the balance and given incredible powers in order to protect the earth from 'bad' denizens who consume reality (usually in the form of humans) in order to gain power and usually aren't very friendly. It's got some very interesting plot twists and it's a good all around watch. Kenichi, the Strongest Disciple: Martial arts anime where the worst possible candidate manages to work (very) hard to make good, lots of good fighting (and watching Ken get the crap beat out of him) but overall a good story and different from the 'there's something special about -this- guy' that seems to permeate all these kinds of stories, there's next to nothing special about Ken except that he got lucky enough to find the right team of trainers. And he doesn't give up, when most probably would've. Yu Yu Hakusho: not sure if I saw this one or not, this is an excellent martial arts series with a bit of extra into the supernatural world of demons and such, Yu Yu plays as a Spirit Detective, a guy who basically has to corral the forces of evil that slip between the cracks using his 'Spirit gun' and his fists. If you like any of the Dragon Ball stuff, or Naruto, or any of those similar shows, you'll like this one. others that I've seen mentioned and support FLCL Kill La Kill Samurai Champloo (need to -finish- this one) Rorouni Kenshin Cowboy Bebop Outlaw Star Trigun Naruto Dragonball (any) Gurren Lagann (hell yeah) and I'm sure there's more I'll probably add later
This current season blows monkey balls hard. There are only two I find mildly interesting which I may drop half way through. Which is JoJo's bizarre adventure : stardust crusaders And the other shall NOT! be named, for those that may understand what I say will be in the know.
I'm pretty sure it is. It's way too popular for it to not come back. Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one who appreciated Last Exile! If you liked that you'd probably also like: Gankutsuou the Count of Monte Cristo.
I'll take a look at that, as for Attack on Titan, my sister is always going on about how it's a ripoff of Muv Luv, I haven't really watched either (or played, as the case may be) I really just can't get around how the Titan's look like someone tore off part of their skin and I don't particularly like looking at them. (Watching Akira was bad enough, but at least in Akira the revolting parts were only a small part of the movie )
Well... after some careful research (a quick google search), the only similarity I see between Attack on Titan and Muv Luv is that the monsters eat people? Muv Luv is apparently a science fiction/softcore porn/mecha/light novel/Adult PC game...
wtf is wrong with the people who dream this stuff up. That's why I can't get in to anime, it is utterly ridiculous
I can't give any real details because I'm not the person who made the comparison, however I can say that quite a few people make assumptions about Muv Luv without ever actually reading/viewing it, including the vast majority of people who provide the quick and dirty google search answers , honestly just the name screams hentai but from what I'm given to understand it's actually less porn than Starship Troopers, it's just got one or two scenes and thereby gets the stigma
Just finished watching the OVA of Break Blade, I enjoyed it tho it does have some pretty large plot holes (being only 6 hour long eps I guess thats to be expected) and seems like its going to have a tv series as well. Perhaps that will expand on it a touch more
In no particular order just some of my favs: 1. Neon Genisis:Evangelion (also the redux 1.1, 2.2 and 3.3) 2. Cowboy Bebop 3. Samurai Champaloo 4. Ghost in the Shell 5. Robotech 6. Black Lagoon 7. Hellsing 8. Akira 9. Trigun 10. Ninja Scroll
I just got back into watching anime. I'm currently working on Steins;gate, which is really awesome. Surprised I didn't hear much mention of it on here. from then I might watch Clannad +After story, Friend said it was good, or Elfen Leid. Maybe I'll go back and watch some Bepop and some trigun. I always had a soft spot for those two.
