I've only played it for a few hours (damn your black heart Fallout 4) but it reminds me of an old-school sandbox MMO updated with ARPG combat. I understand trade skills are a major thing and there's an EVE-style player-driven economy, plus some PvA zones where you can attack other people's trade routes at the cost of becoming an outlaw who can be attacked by anyone anywhere, but I haven't got to any of that yet.
When you are saying trade routes that is starting to sound like Archeage. Please tell me it is not anything like that. That was the grindiest damn game ever.
Not sure. Haven't played Archeage and when I last left my BDO character she was just exploring and killing things because a Homunculus said it was a good idea. From what little I know trading is just one of a bunch of tradeskills you can level though.
blegh, actually, it sounds like the cash shop and microtransactions are everywhere if you want to do much in this game. Think I'll actually pass.
That was my impression as well... but then I saw this video and... hmmm. I might have to reconsider my "no MMORPG" policy. Sounds kind of good. The combat looks really fluid for an MMORPG. When the combat is this good, I don't mind the grind. And update status:
Another review: Still not 100% on this but I'm interested enough to try one of those free trials that was mentioned earlier. Need to try before I buy.
