I like 4.0 cause it is MUCH easier to build a balanced party and play one-shots or if your group doesn't have a lot of time to devote before the game. 3.5 is the best if you have the time to dedicate to it, though.
Maybe we can get a D&D game going sometime on our new IRC channel. For dice, I can get in a dice rolling bot. It'd be fun!
I've done something similar to that with Gyouza, my wife, and another friend. We all live in different parts of the country and used IRC to do dice rolls, Skype for voice chat, and Ustream for the camera pointed at the map and minis. Worked really well. We were able to play a full campaign which lasted about 2 months of Saturday evenings.
I agree with Orc. (And the world explodes) How awesome would it be to have random D&D games going within the Borg?
If anyone ever wants to make and DM a game, I could hook us all up with character sheets off Myth Weaver and share the PDFs I have.
Shadowrun, FTFW. FASA absolutely caught all of my early geek love, that's all there is to it. Shadowrun, Battletech, and Earthdawn used to be my staples. Of course, I grew up in a small town, so I never got to play much, but by god, I had/have a stack of source books that would make almost anyone short of Weisman green with envy. Depending on time, I'd be down for a pseudo PnP RP game. It has been a while since I got to do any structured RP.
