I've got my 'taur in full plate now (except boots I think), his protection is over 50. My Fighter's in the chitin armor, his protection/evasion are about equal in the high 30s/low 40s range, so not too bad. And the boots are from the "Lurker" set, I've found a couple more pieces so far! Level 6 was a BITCH. Ugh. It starts off with a bang too, I won't ruin it for anyone who hasn't gotten down there yet. I WILL warn you guys to save those Frost Bombs (not for the initial surprise though). There's some monsters you'll run in to that float and hurl nasty things at you that demolish your entire party at once that you'll want to freeze, cause there's more than one.
Resurrecting this old thread to say that this is on sale for 75% off (now $6) through steam until at least until tomorrow when they change the summer sale deals.
Totally picked it up on GoG for $7.50 earlier this week. This game is awesome! Just cleared the spider level and starting to feel the pain of a good challenge.
Picked it up on the Steam Summer Sale for $6. Best $6 I spent today. Game is fantastic and really goes back to those old school dungeon crawl video games. Loving it.
I also picked this up during the steam sale, and I am greatly enjoying it. Only played it a little, but I'm down on level 3 now.
picked this up as well. Think i'm on lvl 5? something like that. Damn hard.. and the spiders freak me out when they attack from a different angle...
Legend of Grimrock .. Place where people walks face towards the wall. It was (and still is) a good game. Mapeditor is coming out, so soon there will be lots of new maps/dungeons.
Having a blast with this one, down to level 7 and it's getting HARD. What kind of parties are y'all running? I'm rocking two human 'monks' with high evasion, a minotaur thrower, and an insectoid fire mage and they pump out some serious damage, but it took me a few tries to figure out a party that I like. And oh God, the fighter challenge.
I used a human sword fighter, minotaur axe fighter, insect ice mage and lizard bowman. Seems to be the most common setup. All my friends did the same race-class combinations without talking to eachother. YES! Don't you just love the fighter challenge? On hard I had to come back several levels later and I still made it out with only my human fighter still breathing. I don't want to know what it's like on impossible (or whatever the hardest difficulty was called).
I played my minotaur as full strength missile guy. Dex doesn't affect accuracy, damage is totally determined by strength on missile weapons, so a minotaur is pretty dang good yo.
So Dex doesn't affect the damage of thrown/ranged weapons? Had I known that I would have built my rogue differently.
Yeah, it's the one thing that's really counter-intuitive. Still, since you can just dump all your skill points into ranged combat you still get a competent ranged character with low strenght.
I ended up just jumping in with the default party(Human and Minotaur Fighter, Human Rogue and Human Mage) and wish I had more time to play, the steam summer sale is bogging me down with games >.>
