apparently it was actually during a specific stream event, I found the recording here they mention it about 16:21
huh. started watching the video originally (i think) but either missed that or never finished. but it's pretty much what I suggested a few posts back.
yes you can assign people to do specific stuff. I'm assuming base support people are separate from those who would be sent on missions.
Everyone seems so excited for customization (even on other sites), I don't really get it. Its not my character, its soldiers, I'd almost prefer for them to come with a backstory and a look that isn't created by me. I'm not role-playing as them, I'm their commander.
I'd want both actually. like a backstory/locked appearance for the first team that you start with and maybe a few others you recruit later on but others you can customize fully. personally the tattoos and scars i don't really care about and probably barely touch.
The point is that I can customize them and differentiate them, then name them after you assholes and feel various saddened, enraged, and elated when they get turned inside out by aliens.
I don't usually change the names, but the uniforms I'll often do, and being able to change the weapon colors is a huge bonus, I hated that they were static in the original game.
no. Though sometimes I like to go with Halo colors, I'll make one lightish red and name it Sheephugger, see how far he makes it running alone across the board before he gets shot down ^.^
IT'S NOT PINK, IT'S LIGHTISH RED! That's how I roll by the way. I had to quit MWO because you can't just charge into the enemy formation like that (without dying and ending up spectating for 10+ minutes). MDK is my style. Run at them and shoot like hell! Finnish Army actually didn't approve of my dual wielding fold-stock RK95's. One of these in each arm like so: I say they're all bunch of cowards, going prone and using iron sights, gah. Battles are won with warrior spirit! They didn't give me a bayonet but those with bayonets and dual wield, then get up close.. nasty! Too bad these new XCOMs don't account for armor weight for character speed. If it did, you could just remove armor so Sheep can run faster. He also doesn't need medicals because the plan is not to get shot (see that part about no armor). Maximum mobility and maximum firepower.
i know long war did put armor weight back in and firaxis actually seems to be taking alot of cues from that for xcom 2. who knows they might put item weights in (I hope they do. because it would effect loadouts more especially depending on class. some classes you want mobile. others you wont care as much.)
I've been actually playing the shit out of XCOM Apocalypse as of late. If only a graphics update... Btw- real-time combat with 20 agents standing in a single line all firing at UFO entrance? Epic.
that picture started a rumor that you may be able to import/export agents/soldiers/whatever they are called in xcom 2.
Though nothing of the kind has been announced. Sigh. Apocalypse doesn't look this good. Comparison: Character customization didn't really exist (in this game) back then beyond renaming but I think the inventory was still a little bit easier to use - drag and drop items on agents without any restrictions.
