I'm glad they clarified some of the things from the video, it did seem like there was some 'magic' happening with some of the mechanics, good to know that was intentional and not broken gameplay XD
sharpshooter class chryssalid apparently they will be more brittle then in vanilla enemy unknown. But now they can also burrow. I want my blankey.
it sounds like they don't outright kill in one hit anymore since they mention that any attack can poison. even claws. or at least it won't be almost all the time.
alternate universe mods. where within is canon (well alternate universe) where xcom wins the first war and the aliens come back ? i can see it happening.
I'm not sure where you would go with that, honestly. If we win we'd presumably have researched much of the alien tech, on top of whatever we research between the time of Xcom until the time of the second invasion. I'm sure they'd still have an edge on us, but the margin would be somewhat narrower.
Well they do show "temporal" powers so they could explain it that it somehow split the timeline. in the alternate timeline enemy within does happen and in the alternate xcom is no longer a black organization the public knows about them and they are defending against the aliens's main force. anything before could have just been an expeditionary fleet. and also in 20 years who knows what other worlds the aliens went to and have even crazier stuff. someone will probably do it.
Have they said if they're going to make overwatch better? I hated putting 2-3 people on overwatch and having them all blast away at the first thing that moved. I want a way to tell the game "Okay, Johnny takes the first shot on overwatch, Ted takes second, and Barry is on cleanup." Your soldiers acted like a bunch of frightened horror movie characters unloading on the squirrel who happened to cross the road instead of the monster who is now murdering them because they have no damn discipline.
haven't seen anything. I want a system where it does a system of checks if there are 2 or more of the squad on overwatch who would fire at one alien that moves and is in range. first check is who has the best shot to hit they are the only one who fires and only if they miss (or hit but don't kill) will the next person fire. and it would go from best chance to hit to worst chance. I also kinda feel like overwatch should be a "they will fire as long as they have ammo" during overwatch. especially with how all the weapons only had 3-5 shots before they had to reload.
I was thinking something along the lines of a DnD attack of opportunity where you can simply choose if soldier a,b,c, or a combination of them take the shot. That way you still only get the one shot on overwatch so it stays balanced but you get a choice.
actually yes, they did in the breakdown of the teaser video they mentioned that overwatch is now turn based, so if soldier A wastes Alien A then Soldier B will wait for Alien B to do it's thing before wasting him. etc...
