does kinda look like hk-47. obviously not red and the head is far different. i wonder if the star wars stories are where you will see the most stuff from legends.
I hope I picked this line from this very thread but legends and EU are not anti-canon. Some of the stuff can be considered canon but as collective set of stories and facts they're not all canon. We don't know which parts end up being canonized again. If something isn't specifically ruled out it can still be canon.
I don't think that's how it works. It has been ruled as not canon. So none of it is canon. The only thing that is canon is what the holders of the IP say is canon, when they say it is.
Some of will be canon (alot of the ships coming out are from the legends EU) I think they are taking their time to see what characters they want to keep from legends (probably not very many). Pretty sure all of the legends stories are never going to happen (the events themselves). but characters I can see coming. I saw somewhere that thrawn is supposed to show up in rebels. a bunch of the rogue squadron pilots I can see showing up. though they may not all be exactly as they were in the books. I can see pre-jedi knight kyle katarn showing up (the smuggler, ex-stormtrooper version from the dark forces game.) I think what they really ruled as non-canon is the events, at the moment the characters and ships are in limbo before final ruling of canon or non-canon. Because the immobilizer 418s (interdictor cruisers) that showed up in rebels are from the legends EU. Same with the qauser fire carrier in one of the rebels episodes. so they made the original name and the appearence non-canon but kept the ship itself.
The only thing that will for certain make it out of legends is ship designs and names and only because it's already done for them. disney would be insane to not use designs that are from the period (that were not in the movies and are from books, games whatever). I would say 99.9% of the characters will never show up and the few who might are still a very small chance of showing up. though I wonder about lucas' extended extended remastered original trilogy. They do have the outrider in one of the shots on tatooine. Outrider is one of the few C-canon elements from the Expanded Universe which is adopted in G-canon (the films). In addition to its appearance in Shadows of the Empire, the ship also appears in the special edition of A New Hope. of course just because the ship was made (possibly canon) doesn't mean dash rendar was made canon.
That is semantics of what I said. Essentially anything can be canon or it can not be. While not officially canon anything can at any point be relisted as official canon. The only difference is 'academic' in that we can't at the moment have Disney approved neckbeard argument about one legends story element vs. some other story element. No one has to like anything! And or if you do prefer the original three or so no one's stopping you from sticking to just them. I know, this is a difficult thing for me too. I am slowly trying to learn to be more respectful of what other people may enjoy. But I'd like to bash them hard for being so silly! It's hard.
Oh I don't dislike Star Wars, but people need to not think that they own it and get to dictate what it is. Disney owns it, and no matter how much you want something to be canon, it isn't (not might not be, it isn't) until they say it is. Talking with super fans makes heads hurt
not my fault characters disney came up with suck compared to their counterparts in legends. I think rey is supposed to be the "new" mara jade/jaina solo but isn't anywhere near as awesome as either. thrawn is more awesome than any villain disney could ever hope to come up with. I wish some would show up but I know the likelyhood of that is pretty much zero. also why the hell has leia not learned how to use the force? at least from appearances it seems she hasn't. she may have for all i know.
Does the droid float like a leaf? or will it at least die with something sticking out of it's chest? Maybe it'll get all washed up?
