ahahaha. people were guessing that jyn erso is going to be rey's mom. apart from that the timing (of apparent ages) just barely working to point that it almost does not work. daisy ridley said "just because they are both white and have brown hair doesn't mean they are related" I like to think what she was actually wanting to say is "are you people fucking retarded. why does anyone in rogue one have to be related to the trilogy". It is called a side story.

the theory i like best for rey is that she is a clone/daughter of luke kinda like x-23 is the clone/daughter of wolverine. a clone but not an identical clone because she is the opposite sex obviously.

That would kinda explain luke's hand having been found. I mean they do need to explain how they got the lightsaber and it would work for how luke didn't know about rey (if he didn't) and also how han and leia didn't know.

 

Yup, that's my favorite theory. It may also explain Luke's um..., stare. At that moment he sensed his connection to Rey.

also rey seems to powerful to just be luke's daughter/clone. I feel like her "mother" (biological whether she actually was pregnant or if rey was test tube baby like the clones in episode 2) had to at least have a strong connection to the force even if she wasn't a force user (there to be people who are "strong" with the force but not able to use the force right? I'd say han is strong with the force but can't use it.)

 

the Jedi are 'force sensitive' meaning they can feel and direct the force by their own will, there are plenty of people who are -not- force sensitive, but have some kind of connection to it anyway, whether latent force use or just uncanny luck. Based on the premise of the universe that 'all living things are connected to the force' it would only be fair to assume that some might be -more- connected than others, without having to be sensitive enough to become jedi/sith etc... presumably someone could be a strong enough person that the force would act naturally to their aid, causing them to appear exceptionally lucky, alternatively someone could be very disconnected from the force which might seem to have everything go wrong for them.

 

there are force users who are not jedi or sith. whats her face with the big eyes is apparently a force user (at least with the more internal aspects like visions and stuff). and she clearly is not a jedi.

there are always force sensitives who're neither, many of them learn to use their sensitivity in some aspects, but many are simply untrained, or not as well trained as a full jedi/sith, they would fall under the etc... category, as there's far more types of them than the fully trained force users of the sith and jedi arts. I wasn't intentionally implying that jedi/sith are the only force sensitives, just that they're the most commonly recognized.

 

now there is a movement (give us legends) trying to get disney to continue the legends timeline.

 

Luke's stare

Then finally instead of a rescue party there's this girl that radiates a strong force presence.

Disney isn't going to anything crazy complicated like clones. Plus they're not going to make the female heroine a derivative of the male heroine, not gonna happen. She's either biological child or non-related.

 

my guess would be no one in this will be related to anyone in the mainline movies. (unless they are actually in other movies. Like mon mothma.)

 

Actually I see no reason why they couldn't have Rey be related to someone from Rogue One, it would be far less campy than her being Luke's daughter.

 

I have naturally knee-jerked in to panic over this. I know reshoots are normal, but when I hear stuff like "the movie company wanted to change the tone of the movie" I can't help but wonder if the current cut really is pants or they are about to screw it over. Doubly so when I read it was because they said it was too dark and they wanted to capture the adventure of the originals....
That's what you did already in Force Awakens! Can't you let these branch movies be different like you promised? <sigh>
