I wasn't aware we were talking about Piranha games in this thread. I thought it was about Rogue One. Seriously though, that's nonsense. Essentially every medium of entertainment from literature to video games rehashes ideas regularly. In fairness, nobody even gives half a shit so long as the execution is solid. Trailer looks great. Even has motha fuckin Ip Man.
The difference is PGI is supposed to shovel in mechs from the battletech universe into the MWO game. Disney however made all that existing lore from the EU void and now just use it to cherry pick ideas when they run dry, which seems to happen often enough to keep the fanboys happy.
i'd say more like they are lazy and there is so much they can use they don't want to make anything new.
pretty sure we will end up seeing mara, corran and kyle katarn in some form at some point. actually kanan from rebels kinda reminds me of a far less badass version of kyle katarn.

My guess is they are trying to give a nod and acknowledge the EU. I may be giving them too much credit, but to me they are saying "here are these characters we are reimagining which we are basing loosely on these loved characters from EU. However, we scrapped that whole EU thing because we didn't want to be tied to it....so please don't come complaining because we didn't give them the exact same name and so you don't have grounds to bitch at me that this character did or did not do this....OK? And we gave them a similar name so that we could have this discussion and so you didn't just say we were robbing stuff from EU and pretending we didn't. Thanks for your patronage. Yeah disney = criminals. I think jan ors was a part of the theft of the plans wasnt she? Also im annoyed about fan theories on on how jyn erso is "reys mom". Why the does she (jyn) have to be related to anyone? Why are people thinking this has to do with the trilogy.
