i'd say if they make luke anything he should be bi. i mean he was attracted to leia (before he knew she was his sister). is any of this talk from disney? i thought it was all fan "want" stuff. also i think poe was the other one being talked about being gay. i went "no you can't do that. it'd destroy the bromance".

also mara is far more badass than rey could ever hope to be. also she would have been a more awesome "balancer of the force" than anyone else (if the chosen one is so supposed to be in the middle of light and dark but not either. like someone else is the embodiment of the dark side (not necessarily a sith) and a third person is the light side (not necessarily jedi). in that you could say anakin was the balancer for the prequel and original trilogies with palps being the dark side in both, with the jedi order being the light in the prequels and luke being the light in the orignal. since anakin died in episode 6 that means someone has to take his place as the balancer which my guess is supposed to be kylo ren/ben (probably) being the new balancer with snoke taking palps place as the dark and rey (probably) taking the light.

apparently there can be gay/straight bromances. But I think they should keep that stuff out of star wars. I mean it doesn't matter any to the storyline.

 

Im fucking tired of the social justice bullshit of them shoveling there stupid crap down our throats. Just so you know, most of the people of power in Hollywood are lefty progressives.

basically this boils down to. If you hate gays, you cant like Luke anymore because hes gay, so you have to like gays now because hes gay. This type of stuff is done for a lot TV shows. They tend to take a character which is liked by certain people that have specific views, and then they have them do something that people who like the character wouldn't normally find okay with you. But now that the character has done it, it now becomes slightly more okay to the point you become more and more comfortable. its almost brainwashing.

 

Yeah. The social justice shit should be kept out of star wars. They shouldnt make someone gay because of it. They should do it to fit the character not to fit social values.

 

god help us if the SJW's get ahold of star wars...

 

JJ Abrams said it's time for Star Wars to have a gay character after the metric shit ton of "Poe and Finn are gay lovers" fan fiction started getting shoveled out by the usual sources like Jezebel, Mary Sue, and io9, so they're probably already neck deep in it now. Too many people are starting to pander to them because they make a lot of noise.

I don't think it'd make much sense to make Finn gay, since he's already shown interest in Rey (I'm referring to the "do you have a boyfriend?" line), so if they change that then it's for sure just pandering. But it would totally make sense for Poe to be gay. I mean, he's a fighter pilot. Of course he's gay. I worked on fighter jets, I know this truth. But now that there's all of this talk about making Skywalker gay, I'm really annoyed. It's clearly another, "go for the most iconic character in a series and change them to make them reflect our ideology" move. Just like how they're suddenly trying to say that Samus from Metroid is transgendered.

 

Make Rylo Ken gay. It will be perfect.

and we already had the two gay characters that in which woman don't have to fear sexually. C3PO and R2D2. By fear sexually I mean the way women interact with gay and straight men differently, because all straight men obviously just want to have sex with them regardless if they are married or in a relationship and well gay men dont so they dont have to "fear them sexually" attitude.

Are you trying to say that's why kylo ren turned to the dark side? Because Luke skywalker touched him as a kid? Which would make more sense then anything considering how angry with the world kylo seems.

I just don't want to let go of Mara Jade's history. That's the only reason I'm invested in Luke being a lady's man. I don't wanna see Mara Jade be wiped out of Star Wars history! I'm still holding out hope she may be referenced or show up.

them making luke gay would piss me off from the perspective of ignoring the EU (which they have "officially" done but still make tons of nods towards in TFA) but also it would be a change in his character for absolutely no other reason than pandering to the politically correct crowd. star wars doesn't need a gay character just to say "look! we have a gay character!"

if it's true that sexuality doesn't matter then it shouldn't and they shouldn't feel compelled to change a character who has clearly been heterosexual the entirety of the series just to get their diversity badge from the rabble. star wars has had lots of gay characters in the EU, and sci-fi as a whole has been pretty damn progressive as a whole when it comes to that stuff. hell, even sci-fi classics like the forever war have homosexuality as the norm but it wasn't in there just to be in there, it was an actual part of the story with a point. making luke gay would not have a point, and that's what would suck about it
