I'll just drop this here ny way of general commentary... http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/suspension-of-disbelief
dude... no... read "Rule of Cool": http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RuleOfCool Deny it if you want, but JJ Abrams rides the razors edge between "cool" and pantsonheadretarded during certain portions of the movie. One of my original points was that JJ seems less concerned with plausibility and more concerned with how cool does it look... which is fine... up to a point (your mileage may vary).
Like the new walkers that replaced the AT-AT's... They served zero purpose in the movie other then.. oohh that looks cool. And they go on a bombing mission to destroy that vent at starkillar base and bring zero Y-Wings or A-Wings, or hell even a B wing. Whats the point in only having X-Wings? Did they loose the ability to make them or repair them. I don't even remember seeing anything but X-wings whether they were old wrecks on jakku or shiny new ones in use by the resistance. Sort of like the First order, they only have Tie Fighters, no advanced ties or interceptors, just tie fighters with some red or white/grey paint thrown on different ones..
"hey lets paint our tie fighters white! this way if we want to ambush someone in space (on a known route) we can power our fighters down and they can still see us." also are tie bombers and interceptors not canon just because they were never shown in any of the movies? are they saying in 30 years the empire never went past tie fighters?
yeah just saw that. i don't remember seeing them in the movies but it has been years since i've seen any of the original trilogy. also something that bugged me was the new x-wings with their wings closed looked more like z-95 headhunters. because the canon z-95 had singlee engine intakes. t 70 x-wing (episode 7 went with wings closed for similarity) while the legends z-95 had 4 individual intakes like the original trilogy x-wings t 65 x-wing (original trilogy) it is a minor thing but it annoyed me that the new x-wing looked more like a z-95.
When the wings split the engine separates in two, top and bottom half circles. Maybe better design choice for some reason.
better intake which i'm not sure why they have intakes in the first place. i'm just annoyed at the fact that it looks more like a z-95 which is a clone wars era fighter. though i guess that's to be expected. but yeah why no updated y-wing or some other actual bomber?
Uh, that is all it would take for me. Also, as to the use of a planet that can hyperspace...just port in close enough to planet to throw it out of its solar orbit then boop! leave. Nice slow death for your enemies.
not sure that would work because gravity wells pull ships out of hyperspace whether they are natural (planets and such) or artificial (cruisers) so wouldn't a planets own gravity cancel that option? though that should also mean centerpoint station in the legends shouldn't work because that damn thing pulls planets through hyperspace.
There is some speculation that the indoctrination didn't take due to force sensitivity. Seems like a long shot but still possible. I thought the X-Wings looked totes cool. I was wondering why they sent fighters on a bombing mission though
it's not that they weren't cool. just they resembled the z-95 (which is the predecessor to the x-wing) more than the previous x-wing. oh well. also the whole kylo ren being dark and light side its been done before. completely forgot about cade skywalker (130 years after battle of yavin) Cade was known for his independent nature and his utter adverseness to having others sacrifice themselves for him. Like his ancestor Anakin Skywalker before him, Cade was reckless, headstrong, and often led by his emotions. He walked a fragile line between the light and dark sides of the Force, frequently unnerving his friends and Jedi companions with displays of his dark side abilities, while also frustrating his former master, Darth Krayt, with his resilience against the lure of the dark side's power. This resilience, however, impressed Celeste Morne, who said she had never met someone who walked so close to the dark side and yet was so resistant to its lure. Furthermore, Cade exhibited a lack of respect for others (especially toward those in positions of power) to the point where he would openly mock them in public. Cade was also, again like Anakin Skywalker, unwilling to let those he cared about go.
We have had enough horrible dog movies already. BB-8 can be seen as being the dog anyway since it really doesn't speak English but can still be understood by its "owners", its sentient, and it never needs to eat or drink or will poop or piss in your house.
i just had a thought. would chrome armor even be a good idea? wouldn't it absorb the heat from blaster bolts? or because it's chrome and so shiny and polished bolts would just be reflected off?
read an article this morning where the author said that episode 7 isn't the worst star wars movie but it is the least interesting and he/she kinda has a point. it is almost scene for scene episode 4. so nothing new or expanding on the star wars universe. and it failed to address stuff. episode 4 didn't need to establish how the empire about but episode 7 needed to establish how the first order came about. it also didn't explain that the resistance is an organization set up by the new republic to oppose the first order. it made it sound as if the first order was the current government in the galaxy like the empire was and the resistance was the current rebellion which is not correct. the new republic is the current government with the resistance being a part of it (a splinter part maybe) and the first order is more of the rebellion.
