I actually enjoyed that fact that after MONTHS! of speculation, they did not go into ANY detail about Kylo Ren's lightsaber.

I believe he is referring to the fact that 'Ben Kenobi' was not his actual name, it was Obi-wan, who I guess is the supposed namesake for Ben Solo

oh right whoops. But why did han and leia name their son ben? Thats my question. I think leia only knew of him never met him. Han barely knew him.

BW's point was we are assuming it is referring to 'Ben Kenobi', but that Ben wasn't even his actually name so it could have come from anywhere and may not be a reference to Obi-Wan at all.

Finn apparently is a force user, this can be seen when starkiller base is shooting the planets. When the screen goes to Finn he hears the screams of all the people on the planets. Another way to tell Finn is a force user is because the programing he received at birth didn't work on him.

The one thing that super bugs me more then anything. Rey would be tan as hell if she lived on a giant desert planet yet she is white, she is whiter then me and I live in florida. this just blow my mind more then anything that this super white chick aint tanned that lives out in the desert.

also the whole never having been trained to use the force but can do things like force mind tricks and what not.

Yeah, to some extent. But I do like my Hard sci-fi

Star Wars is, to me, Space Opera Fantasy.

even though the EU was "thrown out" it is still showing itself. Lukes son at the point it reached which was 40 years after a episode 4 is named ben after obi-wan kenobi. There is no reason to choose ben if he isnt named after him. Especially not when the movie is full of references to past characters and the movies. But that is my opinion. Could be wrong.

And i see a theory that rey could be kenobis granddaughter. Who knows what he got up to in the 20 years between episode 3 and 4. I dont see him going against that part of the jedi code though. Plus tatooine isnt exactly a place to meet people.

I actually liked that about Ren. His style was far more practical compared to that ballerina stuff they were doing in the prequels.
    Interesting.

 shit i didn't even notice the kyp durron part.

Kylo ends the film with a big scar across his face that's a bit reminiscent of Anakin's scar in Revenge of the Sith, which he got during the Clone Wars.
While Kylo Ren/Ben Solo is an original character and first introduced in The Force Awakens, he's inspired in part by his Legends canon counterpart, Jacen Solo, who also eventually fell to the Dark Side in the Legacy of the Force book series. After years of serving the New Jedi Order, under the leadership of Luke Skywalker, Jacen joins the Sith and assumes the title of Darth Caedus
Although he doesn't murder Han Solo in Legends canon, Jacen does kill his aunt, Mara Jade Skywalker, in Legacy of the Force novel Sacrifice by Karen Traviss.
Kylo Ren also shares some elements of his story with Kyp Durron, a Legends character introduced in Jedi Searchby Kevin J. Anderson. Durron was also trained in Luke Skywalker's Jedi Order, had a close relationship with Han Solo, and eventually turned to the dark side and possessed a superweapon, the Sun Crusher, capable of destroying entire planetary systems[IMG].
    - It's interesting that Kylo Ren was named Ben for the film, since in Legends canon, Luke and Mara had a son named Ben Skywalker. To add to that, Jacen Solo's apprentice in Legends canon is Ben Skywalker, until the young Jedi fell to the Dark Side.

also chewie is killed in the yuuzahn vong war. because the vong droppped a moon on a planet.

The Sullustan who flies alongside Poe Dameron during the Battle at Starkiller Base is indeed Nien Nunb, the alien who co-piloted the Millennium Falcon with Lando Calrissian during the Battle of Endor.

The Stormtrooper that Rey Jedi mind tricks on Starkiller Base is actually played by Daniel Craig (James Bond himself) in a cameo role.

Fuck spoiler tags. If you got this far, and can't read a fucking title before you click, you're an illiterate jizzmonger that deserves to have shit spoiled.

The shit with starkiller base was weird, that I'll concede. Mostly the whole "drain the sun, which manages to replenish itself" thing.

    I mean.

What the fuck is that shit?

That said, I suppose it just falls under the umbrella of "in the vein of one of the earliest and least scientifically-founded science fiction franchises ever" sorta thing. We're not talking about the writings of Asimov here. We're talking about star wars. We're talking about a franchise where it's absurd to even suggest there was a scientific basis of thought for even a tenth of the shit Lucas and Co. originally penned.

Lightsabers. The force. The way their fucking spaceships fly. Jabba the goddamn goliath sentient slug. Han being froze in carbonite... and then "dethawed"? All of this structured around a big reveal that the primary antagonist is the father of the primary protagonist.

Yea, I get that EU and whatnot has made a greater effort to work towards realism, but, in the end, I look for as much realism in Star Wars as I do in a high fantasy series.

So, yea, drain a sun for power. Hell, use an entire system instead. Make a gun that shoots fucking black holes for all I care.

Finn for prez though. Finn is the shit. I really did enjoy how they explored the idea that storm troopers are people beneath the masks, despite the First Order (and the genesis of the Empire) trying to stamp that out. They have thoughts and personalities of their own, and they very well may not be down with the whole mow-down-a-village thing. That was probably my favorite part of the movie.

    "Why are you doing this?"
"Because it's the right thing to do."
    "You need a pilot."
    "...I need a pilot."

It has a rotating blaster/weapon pod setup below that either the pilot or co-pilot operate. If the co-pilot is busy spinning up the shields/doing fuck all the pilot shots ahead, otherwise the backseat driver gets to shoot at a 75* cone at either end of the craft, but basically its a gimbaled turret.

Okay.. glad this was started... maybe someone can finally explain shit to me. This movie had chronic Fridge Logic Syndrome.
    • First problem I had: what the fuck is the deal with Rey stealing the Millenium Falcon and instantly knowing how to fly it better than Han. I can accept lampshading the extremely unlikely odds of it being parked right there and ready to fly and even her being able to fly it poorly... but COME ON! No way she should have been able to fly it that well... THROUGH A CRASHED STAR DESTROYER?!.... WHY?!
    • So is Rey like the starchild or some shit? why the fuck is she able to repeatedly just "learn" how to do Force shit on her own with no actual instruction. WTF?! I like Rey as a character, but she seems annoyingly OP as fuck.
    • When the fuck did Finn get lightsaber training and why was he *sort of* able to hold his own against Kylo Ren - cool scene but really kind of dumb.
    • JJ solution for a final act deathmachine-thing was a 10x bigger deathstar? HOKAY! (no explaination needed, this is an incredibly dumb and lazy idea)
    • did they actually manage to shorten the briefing/preperation for taking down the super duper deathstar compared to the Ep.4? i think the average masturbation session has more foreplay.
    • also, what the fuck is the point of the "First Order"?; other than apparently blowing up planets for no goddamn reason and tracking down Skywalker, the movie gives zero explanation to their goals or actions.
    • NOT SUPRISED AT ALL BY THE SCENE WHERE HAN DIES. I TOTALLY CALLED THAT SHIT! I'M FINE WITH HAN DYING, BUT WHAT A PREDICTABLY BORING RESOLUTION!
I'm not a hardcore fan at all, but so much of this movie made no sense even at face value to a filthy casual such as myself.

Are we done with spoiler tags?

But i think the main theory with rey learning the force fast is that she has had some training from luke before she was left on jaaku but she doesnt remember it or her parents because someone wiped her memory. Now that is just a theory.

And it makes sense that finn could use a lightsaber if he just extends any melee weapon training to it. Also if they (first order) are looking for luke it makes sense they would give melee training to combat lightsabers to their troops. But he was a bit to good.

Oh yeah... almost forgot. WHERE THE FUCK IS BOBA FETT?!

Seriously, I want to see him back. Also, how would that work with Han dead now? The biggest thorn in his side is dead... kind of anti-climactic, but i guess that's fitting for the Fetts if the movies are any indication?
