Welp me and Boomb took a joy ride out in the UH 60 to go kill targets of opportunity around the airfield, one problem. Sliding bug. We blew up.

Spawned in a ghost hawk to replace the sliding shenanigans, worked great. Went back, killed 22 infantry, caused havoc, got out, reload and resupply. Leave, go to Nato base, disappointed at lack of things to jack. Go to salt flats to look for targets, find flat bed, decide to test lifting. Even with auto hover, ghost hawk would not stay steady enough to hook.

Got frustrated, and put her down too hard. Damaged engine, and auto rotator. Spun it right, round, round, baby, right round like a record baby. Then decided I was tired of that and got in the truck while Boomb killed the helo so the enemy couldn't have it. Drove alittle ways when the Military base East of the Nato instillation popped up with a repair HEMMT! Jackpot! Or not.

Things went to hell in a hand basket, first with a Pandur smaking me around with the .50, repair and evade long enough to put a missle into it. While Boomb is playing chicken with his flat bed and another Pandur. That Pandur won, Boomb died and decided that other things were better then feeding him self to the 40mm autocannon gods. So I took the HEMMT and ran for it. Made it about 4 KM before I was ambushed on 3 sides.

Called for help, Sheo and Skiws show up. Long story short, we solve that ambush only for them two to die on the way back to the helo Skwis rode in on while I was already out of range driving north. So they came to save me and died, repeatedly. And I felt bad. And Sheo was even aware enough to be looking at the map as I drove north right past an active ARMA, who must have been as surprised as I was, as it failed to fire anything at me until I was near to 2km away and passing over a ridge that hid me from it.

And that's where the exciting/sad part ends.

    TLDR:
    +1 Repair HEMMT
    -1 UH 60
    -1 Flatbed
    30+ enemy casualties
    2-3 enemy vehicles destroyed
    3 friendlies KIA

What did you do, Fless? :unamused:

Anyway, my exploits. Had a rough night at work, so came home and got pretty drunk really quick. Who knew 100ml of whiskey and a quarter bottle of rum on an empty stomach would do that? Anyway, went to find the unarmed technical I loaded up earlier and found it had moved from where I parked it. :unamused: Loaded up in my sniper gear and took the technical out to the edge of that massive red block you assholes made. Roughly 15 kills from 900-2300m. And those four asshats at 510m who were all dead before they could return fire, even with my slower bolt action rifle. Bitches. No vehicles and no parked vehicles at the airfield, which was disappointing. But my first kill was a guy walking at 1700m right in the knee with the first bullet, so drunken happiness ensued. Also, I had to repair the technical at least half a dozen times, totally not because I was driving offroad at 100+km/hr while drunk.

    Anyway, fuck Flessar.

In my defense, I didn't know that Pandur was there until I drove through an enemy squad at 90kph and ramped off a hill and over the Pandur. Jerk put a bunch of .50 into my undercarriage and set off my fuel tank. my flaming body came to a stop 400m beyond the Pandur. That little red flatbed killed 4 enemy contacts all told.

That's far more awesome than anything I did. Killing enemies from 1km out with a high powered rifle is simple. Killing a squad with a flying fiery flatbed of death is quite the feat. Bravo, Boom.

Went out with MH yesterday in a Unarmed wild cat to try and stir up some trouble/excitement. And we succeeded.

South East of the Center airfield and to the right valley where Skwi and Sheo were ambushed by the Pandur. There lay two enemy Kaijmans. They Were Cold when we flew over them. As soon as we passed them, they opened up with the 30's and a near by Pandur joined in, panicing and swerving , while going as low as I dare, we beat it across the gulf to the other side of the island just north of the AAC airfield. Noting that the radar is now clear, I decide to search around for new fun, but sadly not all was as it seemed.

One of the enemy Kaijmans decided to pursue. And if MH hadn't been watching the radar likely would have caught us. I pulled a risky sharp turn to orient north, and then hugged the ground at 22m while putting the nose down as far as she could go to get away. As soon as we had gone probably 5km it gave up pursuit and returned to the field where we found it.

But that's not all folks. MH decided itd be a great idea to go back and try to steal the one that didn't take off, because maybe it only had a gunner. I thought it was a great idea. So we took up the AH 64 and went to shoot things. Returning to the valley we found the hot Kaijman easily and blew him to pieces, sadly we didn't realize he was landed 1ft from the other Kaijman and when he blew, the cold one went with him.

And that's where the excitement ends unfortunately. Due to my own interface being bugged, I couldn't see any targets in the gun sight on any vision setting and MH could see them just fine without any zoom. So we RTB before we really risked loosing the Apache. And called it quits from there.

Does anyone know how much each kill is worth? I'm sure it depends on what the unit is for the exact price, but a round estimate is fine. I'm curious how many people a tank costs. :viking:

And before anyone flips their shit, no, I am not going to buy a tank.

Looks like the SRS server reset again. Spawned in and things were pretty hot around base. But through a bit of wile and luck I fought back the encroaching CSAT and AAF forces. And managed to pick up two disabled Armed Technicals and an unarmed Ifrit (Punisher, which doesn't sound as cool as Ifrit).

    +1 Ifrit (unarmed)
    +2 Technicals (armed)

Looking at a few maps suggested by BlueScuba for future SRS.BSNS. play.

I'd like to hear from all of you interested in the MilSim bit. Smaller, more finite missions are what I think we're looking for.

I kinda miss running missions, rather than the more "open world" feel we have had of late

Some options of stuff I have seen:

Invade and Annex: A domination style map where you are giving an AO to attack and capture, as well as side missions. It is designed for up to 40 people. This is a map where we would want some combined arms as taking AOs usually involves destroying heavier targets.

    http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=19647

Patrol Operations 3.0: Similar to what Blue suggested, but maybe a little different options.

    http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=23671

Another option is going back to where we started. Having someone playing as the GM and building a mission ahead of time with MCC/Zeus and playings as the the BluFor commander either controlling assets or at least calling in air strikes and artillery based on player needs. They could also be the OpFor commander and throw some extra elements in as well. The oproblems with this is that are 1) it takes time to set up each time, 2) It tends to be buggy sometimes and 3) the person GMing does not really get to play much unless you take an NPC soldier with you that they can remote control.

I'd be totally down for something more structured to run every now and then.

My personal preference is for an Alive Altis map, I really enjoy the open aspect of it and the way things are constantly changing on it. It also offers the ability to manually do specific operations is also there for when we want to do that with larger groups. But when we only have 3 or 4 people on during a weekday night we can go out and still enjoy playing without having to have one of those people be a GM and not get to play.

The map I uploaded did not work properly. I am on Wildstar atm, I am hoping Varg can look at it. I just uploaded the stock map from Armaholic. We may try it with no mods to see if it works. I did get it to work locally with and without mods.

Just got done with server-side maintenance (MSE, updates, etc), but it'll be 3 hours or so before I can log into the server.. DL speed being what it is.

Noticed something interesting about the server client, though. It now reports (in the client window) the game port and the Steam Query port.

SQP is normally set in the serverconfig to something like 27018 or similar in that range. What surprises me is that the client is showing that the new SQP is one up from the Game Port. I'm wondering if this will affect reporting on the browser list.

The new update to ARMA3 has alsorts of mod updates coming with it. The way sounds are done has been changed so all the mods with sounds as part of them are going to probably be updated in the next few weeks.
Be careful not to update mods until we know what is backwards compatible with the server mod set or until the mods on the server are updated.
