I got the premium Dora while it was on sale. I've also got the D3 Stuka and am working on the D5. Correction, already have the D5. Probably not going to go after the G series.

Fair enough, I'd say they're very difficult to master but also very fun when you do get that killing shot so if that's not for you, no worries. I myself prefer divebombing to tankbusting anyway. ^^

Out of room in Flight 2. I'll create a Flight 4 and designate it US-time for you. Not to worry- we needed two flights for each time zone anyway.

 

In my experience with American planes I've learned that I prefer 20mm to 37mm for the higher rate of fire. And as you mentioned so far I prefer divebombing to low-level strafing runs. That's the whole reason for the Stuka!

I did a game yesterday with a FW190A5 during the 4X bonus time on the nation, plus the FW had a 1.5 bonus built in for the day, so I got a 6x bonus essentially for RP.

Played a realistic game with 3 kills. Got ~30,000 RP points in a game, unlocked basically 90% of the FW190A5-u2 in one game and now have one sitting pretty in my hangar...

Our maiden flights, I can safely say, were a tremendous success and a good omen for things to come!

Particularly memorable was our second sortie over Sicily, wherein myself (GK Deathwatch), Flieger Killbox, Flieger Flessar and Flieger Naemorian flew Ju 87 D-5s in an attack on a tank column. Despite difficulty in engaging the tanks with bombs, Killbox, Flessar and Naemorian all got kills on enemy fighters mere minutes after the initial attack and have been credited as such in the combat records. I managed to make what Flessar called a "ballerina landing" on only one leg of my landing gear, the other having been torn off at some point, bouncing merrily off the one leg on the final approach before putting myself down safely a short way along the runway using the remaining leg (which subsequently collapsed) and my left wing, spinning all the while.

Also of note was our engaging of a B-17 bomber, this time by Flieger Killbox, Flieger Naemorian, myself and Bluescuba (who was flying with us temporarily) after another attack on a tank column in our ground-attack Focke Wulfs. Unfortunately said B-17 was in no hurry to leave the air but eventually succumbed to the engine damage Naemorian dealt him, who was credited with the kill.

All in all, an excellent series of sorties with some minor teething troubles (OOC: Gaijin have managed to screw up the flight models on the Stuka D-5s so the left landing gear gets ripped off in a dive closing on 600km/h -___-). Looking forward to taking the US-timers into the air on Monday!

How the hell?!?! I can hardly ever survive the first dive, half the time getting shot down before I can even drop bombs.

 

Do a series of zoom climbs to 4700-4800m, then enter a shallow dive to 4600m, level out, and use that speed to zip ahead to your target, which should be the closest one to where you start from for maximum safety. Also try not to use any loads heavier than 500kg (I almost exclusively use 500kg bombs nowadays). That should let you attack and get back to base 70-90% of the time, depending on how lucky you are on that particular day.

 

I get shot down much more quickly in arcade than I have in (the few matches I've played) historical. Still need to unlock the heavier bomb loads for my D-5.

I need a favour and here is probably the best place to ask it; does anyone have a fully upgraded D-5 model Stuka they wouldn't mind flying with me at some point? I want to test its performance against the B-2 (my own, fully upgraded) in the air rather than just on paper. Thanks in advance!
